Sayeeda Warsi takes her seat in the House of Lords as Baroness Warsi of Dewsburyon Monday. Baroness Warsi is the first Muslim to sit at Cabinet level and the first female Muslim to sit for the Conservatives in the Houses of Parliament. At 36 years old Sayeeda will be the youngest member of the Lords.
In June David Cameron, Leader of the Conservative Party, appointed Sayeeda to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Minister for Community Cohesion. The creation of this position in Shadow Cabinet demonstrates the Conservative Partys commitment to tackling the challenges faced by modern Britain . Setting out the Conservative vision for Community Cohesion Baroness Warsi said:
Community cohesion is how we all live together with ease, how we feel comfortable in our communities and the way in which we bind together as a nation. We will engage with individuals as individuals, as equal members of our society on the issues that impact on their lives and, not on the basis of their colour or religion.
Holy burkas, Batman, there goes the line “They’d seen [her] face before; nobody was really sure if [she] was from the House of Lords...”
It's unfair to believe that *all* muslims are worthless. If this woman's views are consistent with 21st Century civility instead of 9th Century knuckledragging then her religion is irrelevant.
In much of europe, there’s a very backwards sense of conservative vs liberal. To them, liberal=socalist/progressive and conservative=nazi/islam/christian.
That is the current way they see it now, no matter how wrong.
He might ask, as I do, whether she is concerned that, should islam become dominant in Britanistan, she might be hauled away from the House for her stoning immediately, or would they put her in the Tower until a suitable public stoning/hanging/beheading place can be prepared in Picadilly?
They all read from the same 'holy' book. If they're not committing acts of terror they're financing and giving 'moral' support to those that do.
I think she's come out from under the veil. I must admit, she fills out a black pants suit far more handsomely than a certain female member of the United States' House of Lords...

This statement by her seems to be the core of Conservatism (in my opinion):
We will engage with individuals as individuals, as equal members of our society on the issues that impact on their lives and, not on the basis of their colour or religion...And we will reject that creed of multiculturalism that is peddled by the Government, where the focus is on what divides us rather than what unites us.
Sayeeda Warsi has been a fierce critic of British anti-terror policy, stating that anti-terrorism legislation had turned Britain into a police state.
Mrs. Warsi has been highly critical of the war in Iraq, and called upon former Prime Minister Tony Blair to apologize for the war. She has also made a series of other controversial foreign-policy statements in recent years, on issues ranging from Hamas to Kashmir.
Warsi welcomed the election of Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hamas, a brutal movement officially proscribed as a terrorist group by the British government.

A muslim would never appear as a sheep in wolves clothing now would they?
Britian, France and other Western countres are 45% muzzie. What’s to stop Sharia law now? How many predominantly muslim countries can be counted on as allies throughout history or even now? The Saudi’s?
~ARF!
She insists we must not put pressure on British Muslims to root out bombers in their communities as it offends their sensibilities. And she says the Government’s anti-terror laws ‘are enough to tip any normal young man into the realms of a radicalised fanatic’.
Oh dear oh dear...I'd advise you to do a little fact-checking before deploying figures like this with such abandon. There are people round here who are actually quite scrupulous with the use of statistics. In the case of Britain, you've inflated the figure by a trifling 1500%....
It’s 2007, Winniesboy...get with the times! Facts matter little on FR these days.
