Israels air attack on Syria last month was directed against a site that Israeli and American intelligence analysts judged was a partly constructed nuclear reactor, apparently modeled on one North Korea has used to create its stockpile of nuclear weapons fuel, according to American and foreign officials with access to the intelligence reports.

That’s twice the Israelis have knocked out nuclear capability in the middle east. We should be incredibly grateful to them. Otherwise we would have been facing a nuclear-armed Saddam Hussein.

There are still many details about this that are less clear. For example, I wonder if while the Israelis were lighting up the Syrians radar grid coming in from the coast, if a somewhat larger, slower, higher altitude, and not particularly noticeable aircraft came in from across the Iraq border.
The reason being that this installation was below ground, and it might be problematic to try and take out such an installation with the ordnance carried by high performance aircraft. However, a bunker buster...
Syria had better watch out and make sure Israel doesn’t mistake the bunker with all of Iraq’s WMDs for the nuclear one! ;-)
