The real 'ticking time bomb' is his combination of power politics and scary science.
Former Vice President Al Gore, who says he "used to be the next president of the United States," has won the Nobel Peace Prize for advancing scary half-truths, flat-out errors and politically inspired schemes about global warming. We congratulate Mr. Gore and hope it's some personal consolation.
Nevertheless, we're uninspired as Mr. Gore takes his place alongside Yasser Arafat and Kofi Annan, similarly honored with credentials of similar substance.

There is no value in getting an award created specifically for you. Awards are for competition.
“The real ‘ticking time bomb’ is his combination of power politics and scary science.”
- - and the powerful medium of film, in a darkened theater with a captive audience. Truth isn’t invited to such occasions.
I agree with you - but don’t forget the cheat medium he’s using. Lolliwood has used (abused) it too, for decades. It’s an old trick. Scam
“Nearly every significant statement that Vice President Gore makes regarding climate science and climate policy is either one-sided, misleading, exaggerated, speculative or wrong,” says CEI environmental policy expert Marlo Lewis. Otherwise, nice job Mr. Gore.<<
Love it. Now that’s a gutsy editorial, and well written to boot. Of course my local newscrapper had a huge gushing “Thumbs Up” editorial about Gore’s Nobel farce, I mean “win.” Very nice to see not all newspaper editorial pages are run by left-wing kooks.
Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper: priceless
Botticelli's Birth of Venus: priceless
Nobel Peace Prize: worthless
How about just leaving it at "used to be".
I posted a thread last night on Irene Sendler - who should have been the receipient of the Nobel Peace Prize
IRENA SENDLER (Who should have won the Nobel Peace Prize)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1910471/posts
The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded this morning, and I’d like to congratulate Irena Sendler. Sendler was a former history teacher who rescued 2,500 children during the Holocaust and was a top contender for the wondrous prize. Back during the early 1940’s, Sendler was a Catholic social worker who had gone into the Warsaw ghetto to rescue Jewish kids who were destined either to starve there, or die in death camps. She would sneak the kids past Nazi guards, sometimes hiding them in body bags, or would provide them with false documents - inevitably getting them to Polish families for adoption, or hiding them in convents or orphanages. She also made a list of the children’s real names, put them in a jar and buried them, so that some day she could dig them up and find the kids to tell them their true names. The Nazis captured her and beat the crap out of her, but she later escaped, and she went into hiding. She’s now in her late 90’s , living in a nursing home in Poland.
I want to congratulate her, because she didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize. Instead it went to Al Gore, the guy who invented the Internet. Go figure.

If the Democrats should nominate Gore for the Presidency in 2008, they would stand a better chance of winning than if they should nominate Hillary or Obama, even if Gore should choose Obama as his Vice President.
It is true that the Nobel Peace Prize has been degraded because it was given to some who certainly did not deserve it. It would be a shame for the Nobel Prizes in the fields of Science, Medicine and Literature to be tarnished because of the actions of the Peace Prize Committee. My nephew received the Nobel Prize in Medicine, and I know how hard he has worked and continues to work on medical research. My family is so very proud of his accomplishments. I want to share what a fellow Freeper wrote to me on another thread:
“Congrats to your nephew and as someone pointed out earlier today, all the Nobel awards for medicine, chemistry. literature etc are given out by the Swedish group of scientists and over the years, people who made significant contributions in those fields have been honored.
The Peace Prize is awarded by Norwegian politicians and accordingly has fallen victim to political agendas. I think when they gave Carter the award in 2002, the committee chairman emphasized that it was intended to be a kick in the leg of the Bush administration. So this Nobel award, especially in the last few decades, has little credibility and merit left. Unfortunately other deserving winners have seen their Peace prize tarnished.
But your nephew;s award in medicine is certainly an honor and the vast majority of people can make the distinction between the science awards and this politically motivated nonsense.”
you know who’d make a good peace Prize winner for next time? Satan. It wouldn’t surprise me.
I doubt that the criteria for awarding ANY of the Nobel prizes is working hard. Rather, I would hope that your nephew accomplished something of world-shaping importance in the field of medicine.
That is exactly what he did. :)
It seemed impossible to further devalue the Nobel Peace Prize after these Laureates but the committee did it.
In the case of your nephew did he receive the prize just by himself or did he share it like Gore is? I bet if he did receive it jointly with others he recognized the other winners. Gore seems to have a problem with that. I have not heard him say much about the group that received the other 50% of the prize. Why would he, they are bascially the UN.
Al Gore, winner of the Nobel P (the other half is not his)

Yes, he did receive it jointly and certainly did recognize his friend who worked with him on their project. They had received recognition back in ‘98 for work they were doing, and although they were nominated for the Nobel prize for their breakthrough in gene silencing, they did not think they would receive a Nobel Prize. They continue to work on cures for diseases and are so passionate about their work.:)
Every time a conservative repeats a lie or exaggeration a liberal uses it to dispute the truth.
