What's funny is that the idjit anti-Paulites will call Dr. Paul a "Nazi" when David Duke likes him...yet I don't hear any calling him a "Jew" when a Jewish writer supports him.
A worthy goal, but I think birthright citizenship would need to be reversed by Constitutional Amendment.
“Ron Paul’s electability”
Think “Dennis Kucinich only with money.”
Thanks. This FR newbie is still learning the rules. Yes she is gorgeous. The only problem I have with beautiful women saying smart things is my ability to concentrate.
Paul gave an interview on PBS today:
Paul Envisions Smaller Government, Less Global Intervention

JUDY WOODRUFF: You have declined to sign on, as I understand, for the federal pension that every member of Congress is entitled to. So my question is, you’re not worried about your later years? I mean, you could live many more years, Congressman Paul.
REP. RON PAUL: This is one position that I think my wife might disagree with me on. (laugher) There goes our retirement. No, you know, I was in the Congress in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and I’ve been back, so I’ve had a good many years, close to 20 years. I’ve been in the military. So it would be a nice pension fund.
But when I started in Congress, the first time in ‘76, it was even then more lucrative than it is now, but it’s a very lucrative, very beneficial pension fund. And I could not see with me condemning, you know, the system to on the side quietly participate in getting some very good benefits. So I just said, “I’m not going to do it; I’ll have to take care of myself some other way.”
JUDY WOODRUFF: Should everybody else follow suit, do you think?
REP. RON PAUL: Well, no, I don’t think we should have those kind of programs. I think citizens should be representing us in Congress and the work should be reduced. We should cut their pay in half and let them go home and work.
See, if I go home and practice medicine right now, the congressional rules say, “You can’t practice medicine.” I don’t want to take the lucrative pension fund, but ironically, if I wanted to work extra on the weekend, they won’t allow me, because they say it’s a conflict of interest for me to go home and deliver a baby. So figure that out.
It would. And good luck getting three-fourths of all of the state legislatures to ratify it.
Paul gets a lot of support from all over the political spectrum, including conservatives who truly believe in a smaller, limited government. Unfortunately, most of the Republicans running for president are globalist, big-government liberals.
Of course, the worst Republican of them all is currently in the White House. Those of you who thought he wouldn't go any further than "comprehensive immigration reform" need to check out the "Dream Act" and the "Law of the Sea Treaty" to see just how far Bush, the Repubs in Congress, and the Libs in Congress are willing to go to destroy our country's sovereignty.
How many of you anti-Paul "conservative" FReepers ever wanted to see the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US? Well, Paul's for that, too!
ping
Electability? dog catcher? slippery weasel of the year club?
Ron Paul’s electability = zero.
“A worthy goal, but I think birthright citizenship would need to be reversed by Constitutional Amendment.”
Isn’t this about children born of illegal immigrants being automatic citizens? That may just take the ruling of a strict constructionist court to say that your folks had to be here legally in the first place. At the very least, the courts could rule that a baby born here doesnt extend rights to its parents.
The four "top contenders" (aka: establishment approved) are members of the CFR globaloney crowd.
Not I - the UN will remain obnoxious but harmless so long as the US and its veto is a member. The second we leave is the second it plans an invasion.
Electability is not quite the point, it’s the issues that are being discussed.
During the other night’s debate RP mentioned the *gasp* Constitution and the other candidates were then obliged to mention that Document as well.
And that is why I like Dr. Paul running.
Anyone who thinks Ron Paul is electable is huffing too many bags, smokin too much a da ganja.
I think this guy should go back to helping his wife make frozen pierogies.
Good gosh, she is pretty. But Ron Paul is still a kook.
