SUMMERTON, S.C. (AP) Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards says a tabloid story that he had an extramarital affair is untrue.
"The story is false. It's completely untrue, ridiculous," Edwards told reporters Thursday after he was asked about the National Enquirer report.
The supermarket newspaper reported that the former North Carolina senator had an affair with a woman who worked on his campaign. It did not identify the woman, nor did it name the source of the information for its report.
Edwards said the story was simply "made up" and that he loves his wife, Elizabeth, who is being treated for an incurable form of cancer.
"I've been in love with the same women for 30-plus years and as anybody who's been around us knows, she's an extraordinary human being, warm, loving, beautiful, sexy and as good a person as I have ever known," he said. "So the story's just false."
Smells like a set up. Get a conservative anchor or group to run with it, and when it turns out to be false, use it to beat the anchor or group over the head with it. You know another hateful attack on this brave sick woman by the evil right.
I strongly believe the story was planted by the Hildebeast's war room (never traceable back to her, of course) to take care of one of her fellow top-tier candidates.
Watch for Osama Obama to be next.....in a month or so.......in some different form.
Harold Ickes, Syd Blumenthal and the rest of Hillary and Bill's secret mafia aren't sitting around playing patty-cake with each other during these important campaign days.
Evil never sleeps.

This is Hillary’s doing. I think Edwards is a sham also, but come on, back off Hillary.
The Clintons did just that with the Obama/Muslim scholl thing.
I don’t know if it is true or not, but his response didn’t help in my opinion. He should not have even dignified it with an answer, though, if it’s false. He’s an attorney and should know better.
It’s a tabloid accusation, not a grand jury or police investigation. He is under no obligation to respond. If it’s false, he would have been wise to say something like, “I heard they also printed that the moon is made of cheese, do you hard-news reporters get your news from tabloids?”
Come on,he was boppin her. This guy’s a snake through and through !!!
"But I had to take care of the Candidate.
His wife was too busy, taking too much time,
defending him in his Presidential campaign against the other candidates."
At that time Rielle's name was Lisa Druck , and when she wasn't out at nightclubs
she was taking acting classes. We dated for only a few months, but in that period
I spent a lot of time with Lisa and her friends, whose behavior intrigued and appalled me
to such an extent that I ended up basing a novel on the experience.
The novel was called Story of My Life, and it was narrated in the first person
from the point of view of an ostensibly jaded, cocaine-addled, sexually voracious
20-year-old who was, shall we say, inspired by Lisa
Heck, Edwards may be responsible for the rumour as part of an effort to make himself appear to be another BJC. Nothing says “Clintonesque” like a sex scandal.
How many times have you about the Enquirer being sued for slander or defamation of character?
If this Che wanna be is so p+ssed, let the pr+ck sue-or is he afraid of discovery?
Same for his scheming wife-and I don’t give a hop in hell if she is sick-let her channel dead babies like her old man for all I care.
If the Enquirer has the goods he’s asking for it.
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman... Ms. Lewinski... not one time”. (Wags finger in face)
LLS
wow, this has clinton finger prints all over it
That’ll teach him to come home with Ketchup on his collar !
without readng the whole thing, does it mention the guy he supposedly had affair with?
He used his own kids death in court cases.
He set up charities, that then hired him.
Naw, cheat on his wife with a New York, new age, self described drug and party girl, now into ‘film’?
The Enquirer has been sued successfully quite a few times, because they print trash. That is why I don’t buy this story from the source.
Edwards’ response is what surprises me. It was a fool’s move in my opinion.
You and I part ways about his wife, and her disease. Why did you bring that into the discussion anyway? Actually, never mind, so as not to divert the thread.
You make a good point. But I really don't think Edwards is much competition for Hillary.
Who can forget Bill essentially saying, “see my lawyer” when asked about Juanita...
