Rudy Giuliani fostered an important ecumenical moment last week, albeit one that he may not have welcomed, as Protestant and Catholic leaders alike questioned whether his presidential aspirations were invalidated by his pro-abortion beliefs. Archbishop Raymond Burke of St. Louis announced that Giuliani should not present himself for Communion in Burkes see, thereby also signaling to Catholic voters that they should reconsider their support of him.
James Dobson, president of the influential evangelical group, Focus on the Family, reported that 50 pro-family leaders agreed almost unanimously [that]
if neither of the two major political parties nominates an individual who pledges himself or herself to the sanctity of human life, we will join others in voting for a minor-party candidate. Since these leaders already know Hilarys position life begins if the mother says it begins what they really decided was to abandon the Republican Party, if Rudy wins the nomination.

Rudy supported liberal judges in New York. I don’t trust him on judges any more than I trust Hillary.
NOT!
There are only to “Republicans” I just can not stand to see winning, thats Rudy and Ronpaul (like Algore, lol).
but, but, but Sean Hannity said he would nominate constructionist judges.
Jack-booted-thug extraordinaire, and one-time leader of a virtual Nanny/Police State (NYC), RINO-rudy's idea of "lawr" and "order", is sh*tting on our 2nd Amendment rights.
NO THANKS.
You can go all out for Rooty. In fact, you can go out with Rooty.
You can go out and live with Rooty and his queer boyfriends if you want.
One thing you can’t do is to get pro life, pro family, pro gun conservatives to ever vote for that liberal puke!
FReepers are getting ridiculous about Rudy. Many of you are spouting nonsense about Guiliani on about the same level as discourse on DU. Did God use King David for his good purpose? Was David perfect? Hardly. How about Saul of Tarsus, the Pharisee, and evil persecutor of Christians? Did God choose him to spread the Gospel? I will be voting for president of the U.S. not for a new Messiah. We have one, already, and he's all we need. Guiliani is by far the most impressive potential candidate out there. I think he will be the nominee, and if he is, I will support him wholeheartedly, vote for him, and pray as hard as I can that he beats Hillary. I honestly think many negative comments that I see about Rudy on FR are childish, self righteous and stupid. I have lost a lot of respect for FReepers in the past few months.
And yes I AM a conservative; I have been one all my life. I am 57 years old, and I remember back to the Nixon's first presidential campaign. I remember watching Goldwater get buried by Johnson. Wake up FReepers. Politics isn't about electing Saints to office. If all you Rudy haters end up giving us a Hillary presidency, you will have made a HUGE MISTAKE. When true leftists get into public office, they make negative changes that very frequently prove irreversable.
Flame away all you idiots who call Rudy "Rooty". I don't care at all. What stupid, childish nonsense I have been reading on FR, lately.
I support Duncan Hunter. However, I WILL VOTE for whoever is the Republican Nominee...if it’s Fred, Mitt, RUDY...and of course Duncan.
If Rudy is the nominee, I’ll vote third party and encourage everyone to do the same. A: because I can’t in good conscience vote for anyone who thinks it is ok to murder a child. B: because, if the current Republican leadership figures they can float a pro-abort left leaning politician then we have all just pushed the entire republican party more and more left- they’ll go left to get the moderates/soft liberals while we get left out in the cold.
You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!
"Cardinal Egan, call your office..."
Since it appears no one else will take Giuliani on a walk to the tool shed to explain the issue, I will.
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States (1981-1989)
1980: landslide (44 states, 489 electoral votes) Reagan's position: pro-life
1984: landslide (49 states, 525 electoral votes) Reagan's position: pro-life
Any questions?
"When it ain't broke..."
Fine...then we’ll get a ugly fat communist lesbian in office....Rush says she’s a chavez...president for life...
You are kidding, right?
If you think the Republican Party just is NOT liberal enough--and isn't moving to the LEFT fast enough--there IS a Republican RINO candidate out there for you.
If you want a more authoritarian, bullying, more intrusive, more controlling, all-powerful, big government knows best, 'Big Brother' type of government,,,,,
headed by an east coast liberal who worked in the Bobby Kennedy campaign, voted for George McGovern, who as mayor publicly distanced himself from Ronald Reagan, who vocally supported and proudly endorsed a far-left, liberal, big-government, socialist, democrat like Mario Cuomo over the Republican candidate for governor (largely because the Republican wanted to cut state income taxes),,,,
who first ran for mayor on the LIBERAL PARTY ticket,,,,
and who proudly positioned himself as a gun-grabbing, pro-amnesty, pro-litigation, pro-abortion, gay-rights crusading, condescending, arrogant, and narcissistic LIBERAL, New York pit bull lawyer,,,,
who believes in sanctuary cities, global warming, encouraging more illegal aliens to come here by telling them they are not really illegal, and whose idea of fiscal restraint is using our tax money for Federally-funded abortions,,,,
who has been a public defender of Bill Clinton on more than one occasion,,,
who was SO LIBERAL that he wasnt even invited to the Republican Convention in 96--after refusing to endorse (until the last minute) the Republican candidate opposing Clinton, while saying that (paraphrasing here) "he did not want to waste his valuable time",,,,
and a cousin-marrying, Clinton-apologist--whose personal life is an absolute TRAIN WRECK (and whose blatant, public cheating on his wife almost makes Bill Clinton look like a decent family man and loving husband--if that is even possible).
Yep, IMPRESSIVE. VERY IMPRESSIVE INDEED!!! /s
If you want to abandon and sacrifice traditional, core, bedrock, conservative principles and values a LIBERAL BULLY like Rudy is JUST RIGHT MAN AT THE RIGHT TIME!!!!
P.S. Which one of the above comments from post #33 (I’m sure you can point out a lot of them) are nonsense? Or to use your words ‘childish nonsense’?
Real conservatives are people of conviction, who have principles based in traditional values and beliefs. Conservatives don't support politicos who believe a Constitutional right exists which allows for killing the unborn through abortion on demand. That is called barbarism and is more in tune with liberals like John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy.
Anyone who can support a big government, gun grabber/gun control advocate, gay rights activist, amnesty backing NARAL abortionist like Rooty, is either a liberal themselves or brain dead. Which is to say, one in the same.
I've been around politics since Nixon in `68. I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Rooty is the worst kind of candidate. A candidate who brings back memories of the pre-Reagan period of Rockefeller Republicanism. Thats what you want the GOP to revert back to. No thanks.
Btw, the real idiocy is comparing the political discourse on Free Republic to the wacko leftwing extremism of the juvenile delinquents over at DU.
the effete elites
at national review
never learn.
Cue 70s porn guitar music in your post #9.
You've been here sine 1999 and haven't read JimRob's manifesto back in April? Rudy is a POS pro-abortionist liberal and I'll vote 3rd party if he's nominated.
Better 4 or even 8 years with Hillary (which will affect me more than most as I’m a physician) than to cooperate with evil, or to castrate the Republican party for who knows how many years.
Either Conservatives fight or they roll over and take what the Republican Party gives us. I’m understand there is no perfect canidate, but Giuliani!? COME ON!!! I’ll fight and I’m not the only one. If He is the nominee then the Republican party deserves to die and should be put out of it’s misery so something better can take its’ place.
As for Rush, he admitted he was carrying water for the “Republicans” during the last election. I’m ticked he’s not denouncing Giuliani more than he is. I’m really ticked Hannity is practically endorsing him- though I’ve never thought much of Hannity in the first place.
I vote and am a Republican in so much as it advances conservatism- Once it ceases to do that then I will look upon the party as an obstacle to be overcome, so should all conservatives.
