Explain any scenario where Rudy gets more than 30% of the Republican delegates.

He wins them in primaries.

Nobody knows what's going to happen. That's why we have voting. By March 1, 2008 the strength of the various factions will be understood objectively in a way which is now impossible.

I live in New Hampshire, where socons are very, very weak, and so I probably tend to underestimate their clout nationally.

But soon, we'll know. Be patient.

If you are right, Rudy won't be nominated. If you are wrong, he will.

Only time will tell.

The time to drive the stake through the hearts of the liberals in the Rupublican party is NOW.

See my #81. Show us what you've got on primary day.

Then we'll know.

Excellent piece on why it is important for the President of the United States of America to be pro-life.

And it ain’t just about Supreme Court justices.

Baby killer politicians suck.

I have a quick question. What happens if Rudy gets the nomination, and the conservative base sits out, and Rudy wins anyway?

What will happen "if Rudy gets the nomination" and THEN it is made public that he is a bisexual? Or, maybe something worse.

You have got to be kidding.

I understand the reluctance to Rudy, but hyperbole doesn't help your case.

What happens when Fred gets the nomination and the general public (which I am sure does not know this fact) finds out that he has Non Hodgkins Lymphoma that is currently in remission, and even his doctors say will more than likely will return?

Yeah, I have two questions: Sandra Day O’Conner, Anthony Kennedy?

Of course you are welcome to your opinions. But if an end to abortion, 2nd amendment rights, secure boarders, lower taxes, less government be our goal, I'll quote Abe Lincoln

REASON, COLD, CALCULATING, UNIMPASSIONED, REASON , must furnish all the materials for our future support and defence.--Let those materials be moulded into general intelligence, sound morality, and in particular, a reverence for the constitution and laws: and, that we improved to the last; that we remained free to the last; that we revered his name to the last; that, during his long sleep, we permitted no hostile foot to pass over or desecrate his resting place; shall be that which to learn the last trump shall awaken our WASHINGTON. Upon these let the proud fabric of freedom rest, as the rock of its basis; and as truly as has been said of the only greater institution, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

You owe us the REASONS (cold, calculating, unimpassioned) that a third party candidated or staying home will further our aims. I'm just not willing to engage in the martyrdom of Political Suicide. As GEN Patton said

no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. You won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

Good luck getting the 72 virgins, I'm fighting to the bitter end.

Obviously, you can feel free to support a liberal if you like, but I will not. End of story.

P.S. An old cliche's states that 'analogies are the lowest form of reasoning'. Nothing personal here, but to make an analogy out of the FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY--by comparing it to a football game, proves that cliche' correct. How trivial and demeaning of a comparison is that? Rudy (or anyone else that I might disagree with) can quarterback my football team ANYDAY--but to have a liberal like him set the tone for the future of the Party and our country? (shaking head) Enough said.

An old cliche's states that 'analogies are the lowest form of reasoning

I guess Plato wasn't aware of that cliche. He uses them on almost every page; e.g. his image of the cave in "Republic." Here is Ralph Waldo Emerson's take on Plato:

AMONG secular*(7) books, Plato only is entitled to Omar's*(8) fanatical compliment to the Koran, when he said, "Burn the libraries; for their value is in this book." These sentences contain the culture of nations; these are the corner-stone of schools; these are the fountain-head of literatures. A discipline it is in logic, arithmetic, taste, symmetry, poetry, language, rhetoric, ontology, morals or practical wisdom. There was never such range of speculation. Out of Plato come all things that are still written and debated among men of thought. Great havoc makes he among our originalities. We have reached the mountain from which all these drift boulders were detached. The Bible of the learned for twenty-two hundred years, every brisk young man who says in succession fine things to each reluctant generation,- Boethius, Rabelais, Erasmus, Bruno, Locke, Rousseau, Alfieri, Coleridge,- is some reader of Plato, translating into the vernacular, wittily, his good things. Even the men of grander proportion suffer some deduction from the misfortune (shall I say?) of coming after this exhausting generalizer. St. Augustine, Copernicus, Newton, Behmen, Swedenborg, Goethe, are likewise his debtors and must say after him. For it is fair to credit the broadest generalizer with all the particulars deducible from his thesis.

Here is Lincoln on Politic:

You owe us the REASONS (cold, calculating, unimpassioned) that a third party candidate or staying home will further our conservative aims. "End of Story" is not a reason.

So I need reasons? Fair enough. How about these:

If you think the Republican Party just is NOT liberal enough--and isn't moving to the LEFT fast enough--there IS a Republican RINO candidate out there for you.

If you want a more authoritarian, bullying, more intrusive, more controlling, all-powerful, ‘big government knows best’, 'Big Brother' type of government,,,,,

headed by an east coast liberal who worked in the Bobby Kennedy campaign, voted for George McGovern, who as mayor publicly distanced himself from Ronald Reagan, who vocally supported and proudly endorsed a far-left, liberal, big-government, socialist, democrat like Mario Cuomo over the Republican candidate for governor (largely because the Republican wanted to cut state income taxes),,,,

who first ran for mayor on the LIBERAL PARTY ticket,,,,

and who proudly positioned himself as a gun-grabbing, pro-amnesty, pro-litigation, pro-abortion, gay-rights crusading, condescending, arrogant, and narcissistic LIBERAL, New York ‘pit bull’ lawyer,,,,

who believes in sanctuary cities, global warming, encouraging more illegal aliens to come here by telling them they are not really illegal, and whose idea of fiscal restraint is using our tax money for Federally-funded abortions,,,,

who has been a public defender of Bill Clinton on more than one occasion,,,

who was SO LIBERAL that he wasn’t even invited to the Republican Convention in ’96--after refusing to endorse (until the last minute) the Republican candidate opposing Clinton, while saying that (paraphrasing here) "he did not want to waste his time",,,,

and a cousin-marrying, Clinton-apologist--whose personal life is an absolute TRAIN WRECK (and whose blatant, public cheating on his wife almost makes Bill Clinton look like a decent family man and loving husband--if that is even possible).

If you want to abandon and sacrifice traditional, core, bedrock, conservative principles and values--a LIBERAL BULLY like Rudy is the RIGHT MAN AT THE RIGHT TIME!!!!

But the TOP REASON is THIS, SUMMARIZING all of the above:

Liberal Republicans are much more dangerous than liberal democrats,,,,

because liberal Republicans (like JulieAnnie) BLUR THE DISTINCTION between conservatism and liberalism,,,

making LIBERALISM MUCH MORE ACCEPTABLE!!!

That's MORE than enough reasons for me. End of story.

Guiliani is by far the most impressive potential candidate out there.

What is it that impresses you? His gun grabbing techniques? His assault on constitutional rights? The rate at which he was able to grow government while Mayor, including record borrowing, leaving the city with deficits after presiding over an eight year economic boom? His police-state tactics? The liberal judges he appointed? The corrupt cronies he surrounded himself with (until they were prosecuted)? His views on abortion and homosexuality? His extraordinary (non-existent) experience in military matters?

Please--lay it out for me.

One final comment, since you like quotes so much.

I prefer one by a somewhat more contemporary conservative.

As the Gipper so eloquently stated,

"So, it was our Republican Party that gave me a political home. When I signed up for duty, I didn't have to check my principles at the door. And I soon found out that the desire for victory did not overcome our devotion to ideals".

--Ronald Reagan remarks at the Republican National Convention in New Orleans, August 15, 1988.

May of the 20%ers (aka Rudy apologists) will be checking theirs at the door.

I am gun owner amd NRA member. My NRA sticker on my car is right next to my Rudy sticker. he knows Criminals are the problem, and he is law-and-order. He’ll appoint tough judges and have a get-tough Justice department - 180 degrees difference from Hillary. he is the only one with enough appeal to keep her paws off the Oval Office. We cannot afford to blow this one.

Is he a conservative’s dream candidate? Well, Remember, no traditional conservative would ever have been able to be elected, much les re-elected in New York, so if you apply a white glove treatment to your candidates, you’d never get a chance to clean up Times Square, much less anywhere else in this country, or take down the mafia, rid the streets of intimidating panhandlers, halt an exploding public budget, get businesses to return to the city, or any of the other things that turned our biggest city around from a free-fall into chaos.

NYC considered “ungovernable” by the 90’s has changed enormously because this guy knew he could make a difference, and knew how to get people to vote for a Republican in the biggest democrat stronghold in the free world. This guy is smart and tough as nails; I have no doubt that my guns and my family are safer with him in the White house. He knows the real world. Republicans had better figure out the big tent concept or we are finished.
