Today at lunch here in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, I passed the sorry folks from Westboro Baptist Church protesting the funeral of a Pine Bluff boy that was killed in Iraq. I stopped by their protest and exhausted my supply of curse words and condemnations. It was thrilling to see other local folks from Pine Bluff also condemning their actions.

Those democrats are not so “morally righteous yet apolitical” as they may seem at first appearance.
Fred Phelps has run for office as a Democrat several times (and I’ve never heard the ACLU protest his campaign on the grounds of separation of church and state). He used to associate with Al Gore Junior until Al got on the road to the White House.
I wonder how much of Phelps’ “cult” is really just a smear of conservative Christians (is there anyone outside of his family members who make up his “church” who support all his views?).
And what sort of political advocacy can they engage in and still get 501c3 tax status?

I wonder if it would be possible to get enough businesses to simply refuse to serve them. Couldn’t we get pictures of all of their vehicles and post them at gas stations and motels and etc and simply have those businesses refuse to sell them any gas or give them a place to stay. If possible, that would certainly limit their mobility and they couldn’t even sue anyone for assaulting them.

Yup , a prime example is the recent truth that has come out about the kids the dims used to condemn W's veto of the SCHIP bill.
And don’t forget, Fred Phelps and his lovely wife Shirley were honored guests of the Vice President at the Clinton inaugural in 1993.
