Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

I think you can rest assured her statement was anything but thoughtless.
I don’t think anyone wants someone on their team who’s a loudmouthed boor. Some conservatives only like Ann because they find her attractive, I think. Some might like her because she has b@lls (and an Adam’s apple) and says what she thinks. But be careful with that last!
Some things are worth a little circumspection. If some FReeper thinks all black people are shiftless, he is nevertheless not allowed to express his “honest opinion” in this forum, because it is simply too racist a statement.
I do not mind Ann Coulter wishing everyone could have the blessing of her religion, or thinking that her religion is the only way. I do mind her announcing cheerfully in a public forum that MY coreligionists would all be improved if they converted to her way. She can think it all she wants, but it’s tactless and divisive to say so.
I agree completely, I think you expressed it much better than I have. I would add the completely inappropriate connection to the Republican Party.
She probably was trying to say what you said she was saying. But she should’ve said what you said. :-)
.
Wrong! I will quote John Podhoretz in 2004: “Bush will receive 30% of the Jewish vote or even 40% and the press will say it is 20%. . . they will deliberately underestimate it.” I heard this LIVE.
I don’t like your “they” remark: I happen to be a Jewish Republican and pro life.
IF she goes on another show and tries to defend her remark, she will only make it worse.
It was a lesson. A Do Not lesson.
This post remind me of this passage:
Mark 8:38
38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
I'll need help with that one. Can you graph it for me?
It was foreshadowing.
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was stricken.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
Halle! Hallelujah!
Don ASKED her to tell him what her PERFECT WORLD would be, if she was queen and could do whatever she wanted.
She took several shots at answering the question politically, and he kept cutting her off, saying he wanted to know what her WORLD would look like, not what politically would be happening.
So then she said everybody would be a Christian.
What’s wrong with a Christian wanting a world where everybody is a Christian?
Deustch then complained that she was saying the U.S> would be better off it we got rid of all the jews.
That’s when she said no, she just thought they should be christians. Leading to the “perfected jew” remark, her way of saying that you wouldn’t get rid of the jews, they would all have come to understand the perfection of their belief was in Jesus.
In other words, that every human being on the planet would come into a right relationship with God.
Surely Jews believe they have the BEST belief of all, or else they would change their belief. So wouldn’t they want that for everybody? We know muslims want it for everybody.
This isn’t one of those “diversity” things where the world is better off with people in it that believe in different Gods. If there is one true God, and christians believe that, then anybody believing in another God makes the world less perfect.
And if there is one way to Heaven, people believing another religion which won’t get them into heaven makes the world less perfect.
If Deustch couldn’t deal with Coulter’s perfect world, he shouldn’t have asked about it.
To be fair, I think he really was shocked by what she said, because he just didn’t understand and really took it as equivalent to what Hitler wanted to do in Germany. Once he had that thought in his head, she couldn’t possibly explain it different to him.
If you are suggesting that Ann hire me as an editor, I am available. Actually I think that every time she tried to make a coherent statement Deutsch butted in.
It’s called BAD MEMORIES!!!!!!!
and?
Where does it say, “crucified”? Don’t see it! Sorry!
We DO NOT PROSLYTIZE. And for the record, I know Christians who became Jewish - hey, Ann, how does that grab you?
Its not just Hollywood or Streisand. Look at this ad from The American Jewish Coalition put out on Nancy Pelosi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGU0bE4GKVY
What are the chances that Donny Deutsch would ever even have Nancy Pelosi on his show asking her why the Republican Jewish Coalition believes she is a threat to Israel? We know that if Donny Deutsch asked Ann Coulter a question about the survival of Israel then the outcome would be different. Instead Donny with his agenda driven conservative prejudices was only interested in a certain outcome on his show.
Its unfortunate that Ann had to stick her shoe in it.
