This is my first vanity post. I just had to share this:
We're thinking of calling her Mariah because she came in on the wind. LOL We've had her for about an hour now ... Neighbors found her in their backyard beneath the trampoline in the weeds and stickers and all filthy and starved with one eye all half closed with dirt and her nose all filled with dirt. We cleaned her up, fed her warm milk from an eye dropper and made her a crib in the nursery where they all begin their lives in Wonderland. LOL She's adorable and has a great set of lungs. LOL Dr. Tauer says we have to wait until 3 weeks past weaning to have her blood tested and in the meantime, she's in kitty quarantine in the nursery and in our arms. No commiserating with the troops. Not yet.Maybe we'll call her Once (eleven in Spanish! LOL) Or maybe we'll call her Sarah. Dunno yet. But ain't she a cutie? She weighs 8 1/4 oz. TINY! We don't go looking for them, we really don't! Neighbors rang the bell twice quickly as though it was something urgent and it was! Mom and I were both in the kitchen making an early dinner as I was starved. Mom answered the door and soon I could hear mom and Sarah saying something to each other, then her son came around the corner with her wrapped up in a hand towel in his arms and I just went nuts for her! LOL I took her out of his arms and got the milk out of the fridge and mom got the saucer to put in the microwave and we warmed up the milk, mom found the dropper and I started feeding her. No way is she weaned. She just choked on the milk in the dish. No coordination at all. and her little tail quivering in the air like they do when they're that little ... she's possibly 3 or 4 weeks old. Eyes are still soft blue.
Mariah (or whoever) is sleeping like a rock! She cried twice when we left her and then quickly crashed! She's just exhausted. Being homeless'll do that to a kitten.
Adorable. sigh LOL We really didn't need #11 but just couldn't turn her away! No way. And the vet doesn't take in stray baby kittens. She suggested we take her to the Arizona Humane Society. No way. I tried that last year with 4 feral kittens that were 6 weeks old and they said they'd euthanize them. Just too many baby kitties. No room.
So ... I cleaned out her dirty eyes and her dirty nose and removed all the stickers from her sad little head and body, fed her droppersful of warm milk and tucked her away for her first real nap. She can hear. She can see. And her appetite is good. Wish us luck!
Ping please to the Kitty FReepers? Thank you!
AWWWWW. :’)
Bless you. Best of luck to you and the kitten.
Regards,
AR
Nice job, and adorable little kitty! I think you should call her Mariah, in honor of that beautiful song.
What a sweet baby. Mariah is a lovely name for her.
She looks very comfy and snuggled in. It will be fun to watch her grow up.
Thank you! Yes, she is adorable isn’t she? Gosh it’s been eons since I’ve had a tiny little baby wonder like this! Adorable. I’m crazy about her already! We put her in a nice little wicker basket and she cried and when I reached in and petted her and fussed over her, she purred. And then she quickly figured it out that OUT was up and over ... LOL and the basket quickly became a thing of the past. She’s smart!
Oh, your little kitten is adorable. She looks like a cat that my husband found on the side of the road a long time ago, and about the same size. I think someone had just put out a whole litter before he came by and he could only catch one of them. We named her Misty because it was a foggy night. We had her 16 years and she was one of the sweetest natured cats I’ve ever had.
Good luck and bless you!!
Sounds like she’s the luckiest kitty to have found a home with you! Hope she grows strong and healthy. :-)
*snif*
What a great story! I’m always taking in strays, so I know what it means to clean one up. The bonding is incredible!
May you both be blessed with many years of mutual love!

Hey! Are you still around? I haven’t seen you for YEARS!!!
We are down to ten kittens right now. We foster for the local animal shelter that tries to be as low kill as possible. Summer is always a busy time here. We cannot get these over a bug. They are resistant to the normal antibiotic. We are paying half of the cost of something that should make them adoptable. A kind vet is paying the other half.
Casper, white cat, is totally deaf. You would think he would be harder to place, but there are offers to take him in from hundreds of miles away.
I recently adopted a little girl (named Lilly) from Siamese Rescue. As you can see, she has become a happy well adjusted, loving little lady:
If you don’t want her, we do!
Lilly is beautiful! And one lucky little girl! Gorgeous!
She’s beautiful, and I love the name.
try adding some probiotics to her diet.
That is so kind of you. So many people don’t want to pay to have their animals spayed/neutered. Then they don’t want to deal with what is bound to be the result.
My sister had a white cat years ago, named Fred. I can’t remember why she named him that. He was deaf also. I read somewhere that most white cats are deaf. The deafness must be related to the whiteness.
Once when she was vacuuming the living room, he was in the way and refused to move. So she just vacuumed over him!! And he loved it!! So, after that, we vacuumed him instead of brushing him. Helped a lot to keep the white hair off of everything.
