The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday Rudy Giuliani with a growing advantage in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Giuliani is supported by 27% of Likely Primary Voters, his highest daily total in over a month. Fred Thompsons support has dipped to 17%, his lowest total since early June. This is not a result of last nights debate since results are reported on a four-day rolling average basis. However, each of the four individual nights poll results were a bit weaker for Thompson than the night before.
The last time Giuliani had a double-digit edge over Thompson was in mid-May. That was before the debate over immigration sank McCains campaign and the Arizona Senator was in second place.
Mitt Romney has moved to within a point of Thompson at 16% while John McCain got back into double digits at 11%. Mike Huckabee earns the vote from 6% (see recent daily numbers).

Just look at FR - there are a number of GOPers who love Roe vs. Wade, hate SoCons, could care less about guns and Hate Crimes, and think America is one election away from becoming either Afghanistan or the USSR.
All they care about is beating Hillary - If Rudy became Overload after winning in 2008, then went on to actually make the country into the USSR, they would still not regret pimping Rudy upon us because, in their minds, Hillary would have beaten anyone else. They hate Hillary more than they love Conservatives, the GOP, or any issues facing America. It’s all about beating Hillary, even if it means the Conservative movement dies for ten generations.
That’s why guys like finnman come here and thump their chest every time a Liberal is ahead; that’s why they come here to lambaste Conservatives for finding Rudy911 unacceptable; that’s why they talk down and insult every more Conservative candidate in the race at every turn.
Me? I think it’s time for another Rudophile purging at FR by JimRob. It’ll do wonders for the fundraising, I suspect.
Guns aren't a "social issue" and neither are most of the nanny-state things Rudy loves so much. He's a statist. I can handle him being pro-"choice" and pro-gay marriage...but there's a plethora of other negative traits as well.
How many northeastern politicians win the republican nomination...especially from the most liberal states in the union!?
nice ‘look at me’ rant
Whats the polls look like in the states with early primarys?

I can't deal with these 70's nostalga types.
Historically, primary voters are actually very informed. That’s why predictions on whom will win is inaccurate at times. Such as the Dean fiasco.
Although when you think of that, you wonder why the dems voted for Kerry!?
I wonder how my party has dropped so in stature and talent... then I read so many here on FR and I understand why... some FReepers may say they are Conservative... but many are just as liberal as the dims... embracing rootie or mitt is embracing all that I have fought against all of my life. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR mitt or rootie! Republicans had better notice or America is doomed... We are a legion made up of MILLIONS... and that is not rhetoric.
LLS
I have watched each one of them in townhall meeting settings, taking questions from citizens, those are the most interesting I think.
Anyway, you have to google and search for info on all the candidates.
I don’t think he as dropped permanently, the primary race is still very dynamic imo.
Ann Coulter is a book that only sells herself to the highest bidder. Controversy is her only tool for those foolish enough to give her their time.
Look, it's real easy to "get" Rudy's appeal: in EVERY SPEECH, ALL THE TIME, he hits Hillary, not other Republicans.
Every candidate should do that. If they have a speech or an answer to a question without Hillary in it, it's a waste of time.
It will be a good indicator of how he fights them during his Presidency.
We know how it turns out when a President decides not to push back the MSM.
Clearly, if necessary, action will be taken by Romney:
"And it is unacceptable to this country to allow that individual to have he control of launching a nuclear weapon. And so we will take the action necessary to keep that from happening. And I think each person on the stage, certainly in my case, I would make sure that we would take the action necessary to keep Iran from having a nuclear weapon." Gov. Mitt Romney (CNBC, Republican Presidential Candidate Debate, Dearborn, MI, 10/9/07)
Romney has made very strong, unequivocal statements about decisive action in the face of an imminent attack in prior debates.
--->Paul Mirengoff, at Power Line, discussing what he calls a "Faux Gotcha Moment," defends Governor Romney against an "over-the-top" attack and puts his record on Iran in context in the following post.
Here's the key quote:
"
no candidate has been more forceful or specific than Romney in insisting that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable. Romney was perhaps the first announced candidate to stress this position, doing so in a January 2007 speech to a gathering in Herziliya, Israel. I haven't seen a better statement on the subject since

It’s sort of simple. Liberal Republicans are growing in numbers like liberals. This is mostly in areas that are dem-owned. It’s threat to our movement and the Republican party itself.
You can see the liberals moving more to the left and squeezing out their moderates. Oddly, it seems GOP leaders want to get rid of conservatives...so Rudy is the norm.
People want someone who CAN and WILL take on Hillary, and for whatever reason, the other guys just seem to drift along. Rudy's anti-Moveon ad was brilliant. His only slip in the last two weeks was not coming out big to support Rush (Fred did). But the NY Times anti-Moveon ad was a brilliant stroke.
FOX News, nuff said.
It's clear he is the medias choice, and "every one" says he can beat the Hillder Beast. So, since most Americans are TV junkies, they buy the media spin and support "Americas Mayor". It doesn't matter what the truth is, just what the media tells people to think.
That accounts for 1/3 of the base. Perhaps the other 2/3 can think for them selves. I don't know, this day and age it seems like the world has gone stupid. Just look at Hannities man on the street days. We are in trouble.
Nah, people hate Rudy in the real world, too.
Thank you. I will just add Ann Coulter to the other list of things that no longer matter to conservatives, such as the no new taxes pledge, the human life amendment, protecting marriage, tort reform, fundraising, townhall meetings, Michelle Malkin etc.....
Actually that’s inaccurate or a vague answer, because most of those states aren’t as soon as you think.
The initial states are mostly between Romney and Fred. Rudy doesn’t come into contention till Florida.
