“transportation officials are still months from making a final decision about the location of the much-heralded Interstate 69 superhighway from Canada to Mexico.”
I don’t have any problem with this... As long as it’s a tunnel with no exits.

I-69, known as Trans-Texas Corridor 69 in the state of Texas, is a proposal for a 2,600-mile highway system running from Canada to Mexico.
I could get behind this idea, but only if there are no off-ramps between Mexico and Canada :-)

I know I have the brain of an adolescent boy trapt in my middle age body, but they can’t really be thinking of calling this road I-69?
To: live+let_live
Part of it already exists, in Indiana and Michigan. I actually drove a stretch of it this past summer, from Flint to Port Huron.

Any potential road would need to have space for six car lanes, four truck lanes and up to four rail lines, according to Doug Booher, environmental manager for TxDOTs turnpike division. Pure vintage TXDOT Bravo Sierra!!! There is zero functional justification for placing passenger vehicles, trucks and rail in the same right-of-way. They each have different functions, roadbed needs -- and different destinations.
The only justification for doing so is to build TXDOT's empire.

It currently runs from Indy to Port Huron.
For the record, the Big Beaver Exit (exit 69) is on Interstate 75 in metro Detroit.

I second. All in favor? Good, motion approved.

Federal funding for huge highway projects is scarce. And there are concerns at the state level over where the road will go and how it will be funded, state officials say.Ron Paul managed to get an earmark of 13 million for this in March.
The pdf w/ the $13Million line item for I69 is here:
