Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #8 Dearborn, Michigan 10/09/07 - Official Discussion Thread
CNBC/MSNBC/The Wall Street Journal are jointly sponsoring the first Republican Presidential debate of the 2008 campaign focusing on economic issues. It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.
Candidates participating:
I honostly like all of them. Trancendo is right, but too damned angry.
Mitt’s is a Mormon from Taxburg, too bad he’s from Taxburg.
Thompson looked stiff, unpolished, but pretty good actually. Not young and spry...like the old bull who walked down the hill.
I thought he did good, he can improve but did much better than the MSM is confessing.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm
I could go for both!
;-)
Folks who think L Ron Paul is just another GOP guy shold check out RonPaul Forum. It is worse than the Daily KOS and DU.
I agree. I support Thompson because overall he's closest to my views (not because he's electable, even though I think he is). However, if Hunter were closest to my views I would be supporting him regardless of the polls. I jump into this argument myself sometimes, but the upshot is that I believe Hunter and Thompson are both good men. I also believe they share many of the same concerns, although they have significantly different ideas about what the best solution is in a few areas.
I didn’t know that about Huckabee...and I’m NOT impressed with Brownbeck at all.
I can’t believe anyone thinks Huckster is for real.
I think both are great guys, too. I like so many of our choices. I think WE actually HAVE choices, unlike the left.
Maybe I am just a cynic but I don’t know how well reasoned discourse and rational debate is going to sell to the Voters when it confronts the slick emotive pandering of the massive Clinton machine next year.
A sure sign he is qualified on matters of national defense, taking on the enemies of America
I think people with their interests will think otherwise and voice it, but in all respects...given the nature of the forum, I expected about that much. 30 second responses!?
If the forum gave more time and had less people, then I would expect more.
You ever wonder why MittWits 5 sons never served in the military.
CM was pretty straight until the last few questions, Canada, airlines, etc. I thought Hunter looked very solid. Thompson OK but not outstanding. He seemed much more articulate in an interview last week with Hannity. Maybe debates are not his forte.
“I think both are great guys, too. I like so many of our choices. I think WE actually HAVE choices, unlike the left.”
They’re almost all the same. Except Kuccinich and Gravel...they’re a bit odd at times.
anyone find a replay link?
you are actually quite a classy FReeper....
nice and refreshing.....
LOL!!
there you again....jumping to the primaries......
watching our guys debate as compared to the Dems debate is actually very inspiring....
They all had some great points and good moments...well- again, except for RP.....but he is good for some laughs...
You’re pretty right on. Yeah, Tancredo is passionate, and you’re right...it doesn’t play well....too bad. We need his voice in the mix... If they could allllll have a place (with the definite exception of RP) in the pool. We have such a great group!
Would you two behave, LOL
“A sure sign he is qualified on matters of national defense, taking on the enemies of America”
lol!! I sure hope you were saying that tongue in cheek!
