Whats he ever done except write songs about dead blondes? In the entertainment biz, he gave William Shatner a way to showcase his musically talents. There's a real media clip of him doing "Rocket Man" in the late 1970s. "...I'll be high...[takes a long drag on a cigarette]... as a kite by then..."
Elton John probably inspired the move towards less garish eyeglass ware, too. Heck, there's a current commercial making fun of a woman wearing "bug sun glasses".

Speaking of duets, have you heard the song, Gone Gone Gone by Robert Plant and Allison Krause? Talk about an unseemly duet, I have heard a couple of tracks from the new CD and it rocks. I would have never paired the two of them but it works...
