UNDATED -- The Paul McCartney-Stevie Wonder hit "Ebony and Ivory" tops a new list of the worst duets.
BBC Radio Six conducted the poll, seeking listeners' views on the collaborations they like the most -- and least. The 1982 tune is one of two tracks the former Beatle has in the top 10 worst list. "The Girl Is Mine," his duet with Michael Jackson, has the No. 6 spot. Elton John and David Bowie also have two collaborations on the worst list.
Elton's "Live 8" performance of "Children of the Revolution" with British rocker Pete Doherty is coming in at No. 7, while his version of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" with George Michael takes the No. 9 spot.

I always thought the Mick Jagger/David Bowie remake of “Dancing in the Streets’ was the pits. Looks and sounds like it was thrown together in about a day. Real crap.

Do the Three Tenors recordings qualify as duets?Only if they record with the Three Mo' Tenors.

This is the worst combination of 2 Jewish men with guitars since Simon and Garfunkel.

Shatner warbling Mr. Tambourine Man and Nimoy grimly knocking out Ruby Dont Take Your Love To Town - they break prisoners with that kind of stuff on an infinite loop. I hope the guards at Club Gitmo have high-quality earplugs.

But it did inspire a rather hilareous SNL skit:
"I am dark and you are light!"
"You are blind as a bat and I have sight. Side by side you are my amigo, negro, let's not fight!"

Let’s not forget that very GAY video of Bowie and Jagger. It looked like they were about to engage in sodomy by the end.

I CAN’T STAND ANYTHING by Ms. Aguilera. Only Whitney Houston exaggerates and hams it up more.

If you think the Bowie/Jagger video was gay, you should check out Barry Squier’s “Rock Me Tonite” video on Youtube sometime.

Lennon's solo stuff was worse than McCartney's. IMHO, from Two Virgins to Double Fantasy.
JL and PM provided a check and balance on one another. When they broke up, they both indulged their passions for sap (PM) and pretentiousness (JL).

Were kids on the West Coast into the Chi Lites and the Stylistics back then? THOSE were some great ensemble works.
Gamble and Huff's stuff for Philly International records put all that overproduced Motown crap to shame.

Denny Laine was also the original lead singer of the Moody Blues, before Justin Hayward came along, but you probably already knew that. He sang the lead on "Go Now."
And yes, after 10 years of dealing with Paul and Linda, he had enough. The feelings were mutual.

Reply number 2 to you. :-) Within the last week, I sent that video clip to a friend as the cheesiest clip ever made — and I generally like Billy Squier.

Now if you want a GOOD duet, David Bowies post mortem duet with Bng Crosby of White Christmas/Little Drummer Boy was a work of talent and genious.I'm pretty sure it wasn't post-mortem...there's video that's older than the internet.
It is one of my favorite Christmas songs, though. Neither tried to out-do the other and it was a beautiful blend.
That reminds me..I need to download it for my iPod at Christmas!

Most duets suck.
That's because they're usually contrived pieces of self-indulgence by two "stars" who are just fooling around and milking the public.
Exceptions I can think of, off the top of my head would be Elton and Kiki Dee, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" and Frank and Nancy Sinatra with "Something Stupid". These were original songs and not re-hashes of old hits like most duets.

I don’t know if he’s alive or not, I think he is...the quote I noted way up above was from about seven years ago or so.

I'm more of a Kate Bush fan than Gabriel, but the combo was terrific.

Worse still would be Ernest Borgnine and Phyllis Diller singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
