Obama Proposes Deep Greenhouse Gas Cuts
Town Hall ^ | 10/8/07 | HOLLY RAMER

"As president, I will set a hard cap on all carbon emissions at a level that scientists say is necessary to curb global warming, an 80 percent reduction by 2050," he said.

He proposed a modified "cap and trade" approach to reduce emissions, requiring businesses to buy allowances if they pollute, creating an incentive to reduce energy usage.

"No business will be allowed to emit any greenhouse gases for free," he said. "Businesses don't own the sky, the public does, and if we want them to stop polluting it, we have to put a price on all pollution."

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., has said she is intrigued by the carbon auction system but has stopped short of endorsing it. Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut has proposed taxing polluters for their carbon emissions.

Separate from the energy proposal, Obama joined rival John Edwards Monday in criticizing Clinton for voting for a Senate resolution that urges the State Department to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. continued...

OBAMA SUCKS UP GORE’S GLOBAL FLATULENCE!

I think you are getting close to the real answer. The campaign is on the verge of desperation, and may soon make a move to get a formal endorsement from Gore. That would throw a monkey wrench into the Hillary Express.

"Businesses don't own the sky, the public does,

That is an out and out total liberal lie. If the sky belonged to us, the damned politicians could not tax the hell out of us over everything that is done in it. Like up in WA state. Even if you OWN 1,000 acres of land, YOU DO NOT OWN THE WATER under it. That belongs to the state. You cannot do anything you want too with that water unless The State says you can.

“..an 80 percent reduction by 2050..”

Did anyone ever ask him how he arrived at these numbers? Pulled out of his behind, I guess.

Is there truth to the rumor that Barak Obama extended to Al Gore an invitation to become his Vice President?
This Vice Presidency, accd. to Obama, would be an unbeatable team.

May I quote from “Science” magazine of Dec. 1976. Scientists said that increased warmth of the planet is followed by (not preceded by) a rise in CO-2! And the final paragraph of the extensive report “predicts that the long-term trend over the next several t;housand years is toward extensive Northern Hemisphere glaciation”.

I rest my case!

“80 percent reduction by 2050,”

Hell, why not make it a 100%.

He's insane. 80 percent reduction in 40 years will destroy our economy and our standard of living. B Hussein Obama has not told the public exactly how such a huge cut is to be achieved by 2050.

It’s about time someone in Washington decided to shut down the power plants, factories, and trucking companies in this country. Obama will have us back in the stone age in no time.

No business will be allowed to emit any greenhouse gases for free

Note.......

......he didn't say they would not be able to emit "greenhouse gasses", it just wouldn't be for free.

Yeah, that'll do the trick /sarc
