DEFINITION: Swiftboating; Speaking TRUTH in the face of Democrat Propoganda
The Idiots at Kos have a huge thread running on the exposure of the "SCHIP" family by Free Republic members, that Rush mentioned today, and it's utterly HILARIOUS!
They are freaking out that we would DARE to question thier "Facts"... "UPDATE #2 Whiskeyfire has a very informative blog on this too (hat tip nyseer courtesy of Atrios)
As the day goes on, bigger and bigger smear merchants are picking this up (including The Weekly Standard).
All are (of course) listing Free Republic as the mother source. This limits any culpability and fact checking of their own.
UPDATE #3 Michelle Malkin has this story up on her site, but she's done the extra step of going to Halsey Frost's business and quizzing his tenant on his political ideology. She also drove by the Frost home... ostensibly to see how much it was worth.
There are many points being brought up, amongst them whether it's right to bring children and anecdotes to a political debate.
I don't think that this is the issue. The issue is that the right wing, led by The Free Republic and picked up by Mark Steyn and Michelle Malkin are attacking the people that come out against their propaganda.
The Frosts aren't running for office; they are trying to live their lives after a horrible accident left their children with permanent disabilities.
Knowing the types of people that are involved in this Swift Boating, it's even more terrifying to know that this families personal records and address are going the rounds courtesy of Free Republic. If anything else happens to this family, I hope God will have mercy on their souls.
And then, we have the "lousy Freeper Troll"...
"the family likely did not purchase much auto insurance if they didn't purchase health insurance. They may have had minimum liability coverage which won't cover a week of ICU and a handful of surgeries. PIP insurance is usually a small amount - is 'no-fault' an unlimited coverage?"
How dare he insert things like FACTS into the discussion???
Just some insanity for you to peruse...

That family has a Danish Modern designed kitchen, Bosch appliances and an espresso maker. Not exactly Section 8 furnishings there. I was googling around trying to find a price for that attractive teakettle sitting on the stove, but couldn't find a match. You seem to know kitchen furnishings -- any idea what brand it is and how much it cost?

And what also gets me is tghe Dems push to "do it for the children" but yet these folks made the decision to live where they did.
Geez, in this market how hard is it to buy down and afford the things you can and provide for your kids, rather then satisfy your personal requirements and tell the fed you need a handout.

Not always easy to take it all in when you are busy, is it? Sure it is, when it is all in one post...like the one you didn't read.

Take it outside and settle it, boys.

I am not going to argue with you. If you look at my first post it was a general reaction to the situation.
If you want to argue about what has already been apologized for, go over to the KOS.
This wasn’t personal to you, it wasn’t personal to the poster.
Get over it.

Hmmm ... that seems to be a large, very modern and nicely appointed kitchen with all the most up-to-date bells and whistles. Gee, I have a modest but ample 80s vintage house with a great view of the Mountain. Wish I had this kitchen. You say they’re so underemployed that there’s no insurance through the employer? What’s wrong with this picture?

Have I not cordially apologized for my gaffe?
Apparently this poster does not think so.
Don’t know what else I can do than put myself in a blender.

You dare call all liberal poor kids phony poor kids just because they dont support your fiscal policies?!?! Senate resolutions will follow.I'm meant this specific kid wasn't really poor. Kids actually, as he has siblings.

Id be interested too. This is the first Im reading anything about this and now what to research it!Your wish is my command...
( Newest is first...)
And Now You Know . . . [Dan Collins]the rest of the story! Why in the world do these people need SCHIP? And how does a $45,000 a year reported income manage to send two kids at once to a $20,000 a year private school? This is a blatant fraud by the Democrats and easily checked.
Private School and A Large House, But No Health Insurance? : The American Pundit "A half-a-million dollar home, $190,000 in commercial property, successful architect grandfathers, owning his own design company, a beautiful kitchen complete with what appears to be granite counter tops, an estimated $1,200 a month mortgage, personal injury auto insurance required in Maryland, but the Frosts couldnt afford an estimated $452? Hmm."
Flopping Aces: "This is the family the Democrats chose to represent SCHIP? If there was a more perfect family why SCHIP should not be expanded its this one."
SCHIP--Limbaugh, Hannity and Hewett will bash the Dems nicely with this most recent gifty stick. Is there ONE non-phony within the Dem collective?
Little Graham Frost of Baltimore addressed the nation this week as the Democratic spokesperson, pleading against President Bushs promise to veto legislation that would expand S-CHIP health coverage for children. It has been a long road for Graham, aged 12, who was seriously injured in a traffic accident while on his bike. According to his mom, it would cost the family about $1200 per month for private insurance, if not for the government program, while the family takes in only about $45,000 a year. In an article in the Baltimore Sun, Grahams father is characterized as a common woodworker. That is, until a blogger, calling himself
icwhatudo at Free Republic, however, showed rather more curiosity than the professional reporter paid to investigate the story and did a bit of Googling. Mr Frost, the woodworker, owns his own design company and the commercial property it operates from, part of which space he also rents out; they have a 3,000-sq-ft home on a street where a 2,000-sq-ft home recently sold for half a million dollars; he was able to afford to send two children simultaneously to a $20,000-a-year private school; his father and grandfather were successful New York designers and architects; etc. This is apparently the new definition of working families.
Powerline: "Why is it that the chance of any mainstream media reporter doing easy internet research to check the accuracy of the Democrats' story, as this Freeper did, is exactly zero?"
Im glad little Graham and his family were able to get help, and I hope he reaches full rehabilitation. But perhaps the Democrats ought to take more care in the spokespeople they choose, if they wish to tug at our heartstrings.
Blue Crab Boulevard has the roundup.
The "Not So Poor" 12 Year Old Who Rebutted Bush on SCHIP Veto--a middle school student at the exclusive$20,000 per year Park School in Baltimore...Reid and Pelosi at it again...
according to the Baltimore Sun article it was Reids office that contacted the boy. The Senate staffers wrote his script, so they weren't even his own thoughts. Reid describes having the boy give the prepared speech as having a real heavy weight...ok, all groan with me in unison.

The kids are cute. Too bad their folks are pimping them out for politics’ sake.
I would not allow Baby Chan to be a spokesman, er, boy, er, baby, for any cause, including that of Free Republic. Politics is a game for grownups. I say leave the Kinder out of it, and allow them to enjoy their innocent years in peace.

I refuse to give these moonbats hits to inflate their numbers. If FR quit feeding them they would become irreverent.
I have never heard what the "accident" was and who was at fault...
