Clinton's Phony WWII 'Hero' --Dem. Campaign Donor, Ambassador, Phony Soldier

It's an avalanche of Democrats and their supporters who are turning out to be liars about their military service, lately. This time it's the late M. Larry Lawrence, a long time Bill Clinton donor who was such a heavy contributor that Clinton paid him off with the ambassadorship to Switzerland (1993 to 1996). Even The New York Times can't hide this one because now that his false service has been confirmed, his body has been removed from Arlington Cemetery, an honor that Clinton had strings pulled to bestow upon him after his passing from cancer in 1996 -- an Arlington burial being just another payoff for his huge donations to Clinton's campaign fund.

"Confronted with mounting evidence that M. Larry Lawrence, the late Ambassador to Switzerland, had fabricated a heroic World War II record, his widow decided today to have his remains exhumed from Arlington National Cemetery, where he was granted burial under an unusual waiver."

So what was the story? How was his military service a sham?

"Mr. Lawrence said he had been serving in the United States merchant marine. He said he was thrown overboard into the icy Arctic Ocean after a German torpedo hit his ship as it headed for the Russian port of Murmansk."

Well... not so much.

Turns out Mr. Lawrence was attending Wilbur Wright College in Chicago during March of 1945, the same time period he claimed he was under fire as a Merchant Marine.

"But Congressional investigators with the House Veterans Affairs subcommittee on oversight and investigations found that Mr. Lawrence's name did not appear in the Coast Guard's records of merchant seamen. His name also did not appear in any official documents related to the 1945 voyage of the Horace Bushnell, including the ship's list of passengers."

Ooops.

But it's even worse than a mere little white lie. Lawrence was given all sorts of honors during his lifetime for his supposed bravery in WWII. The Russian Federation even gave him the Medal of Valor in 1994. Then Clinton bent the rules to allow him to be buried in Arlington upon Lawrence's death in 1996.

Why did Clinton do this?

The money.

"The story of Mr. Lawrence and his spectacular, self-made war record began as yet another campaign finance allegation, in this case, that wealthy Democratic donors traded campaign contributions for Arlington burial plots."

Yes it was all "Because Mr. Lawrence was a generous contributor to Mr. Clinton's 1992 Presidential campaign."

Say it isn't so! Bill Clinton selling influence and giving gifts for campaign cash? Next thing you'll tell me is he sold the Lincoln Bedroom!

my father in law served on the murmansk run and was sunk once-he did receive veterans status many years later-and he deserved it-he wasn’t even a us citizen at the time-he was a legal immigrant from honduras-his brother served 27 years in the us army,retiring as a master sergeant-immigrants were different back then

Only cowards and scam artists need to lie about and make up the heroics they claim they were involved in. Ego!

A true hero, a true soldier would rather just live in peace and quiet after the viloence of war!

Gad, Sergeant Major Leander Perez no doubt ~ I knew that guy ~ must have been 4'6" high but he could tower over you ~ including Bluney, the tall Sicilian guy from Brooklyn who wanted to keep carrying the same piece he used in the Hood.

Or, maybe Sgt Gittens ~ he was from somewhere down there ~ filled out the uniform ~ made it look good.

I believe Chelsey was in NYC that day ~ Fur Shur we called the families of the kids we know who live there and checked out their status, and I called the fellows at work who were watching both towers fall ~ then, I checked very closely every instance of someone from the USPS being involved.

Here's some info on the ship he claimed to have served on.

At 09.10 hours on 20 Mar, 1945, U-995 fired torpedoes at the convoy JW-65 about 25 miles east of North Kilden Light and reported one ship sunk and two others damaged. In fact, only the Horace Bushnell (Master William John Lacey) in station #11 was hit by one torpedo on the port side in the engine room. The blast created a hole 33 feet by 26 feet, cracked the main deck, completely destroyed the engines and killed the second engineer and three men on watch below. The explosion also blew the engine room skylight over the side, cut off the power, destroyed one lifeboat and filled another with oil. The vessel settled with a slight list by the stern until water reached 34 feet and then steadied. The survivors among the eight officers, 34 crewmen and 27 armed guards (the ship was armed with one 5in, one 3in and eight 20mm guns) on board prepared themselves to abandon ship, while HMS Orwell (G 98) took the ship in tow. Heavy seas prevented the destroyer from making any headway and advised the crew to abandon ship. At 11.50 hours, all survivors went directly on board the destroyer, which took them to Murmansk. The chief engineer died of shock on the escort vessel.

The Horace Bushnell was later beached by two Soviet salvage tugs at Teriberski, where the cargo was salvaged by the Soviets and the ship was declared a total loss. 1949 the wreck was salvaged by the Soviets and repaired in the Mathia Thesen Werft in Wismar, East Germany. The ship was converted to a transport and supply ship for the Soviet high seas fishing fleet and renamed Pamyati Kirova. She was still listed in Lloyd´s Register of 1975/76.

The uncle of one of my coworkers served on the U-995 when she torpedoed the Horace Bushnell. He now lives in Radcliff, Kentucky and gives lectures to young officers going through the Armor School at Fort Knox, while the U-995 is a museum ship in Germany.

Most presidents these days are being buried at their libraries so hopefully, Slick will end up at the Presidential Doublewide in Arkansas. It galls me to no end that as a taxpayer, I'm going to be paying for full state funerals for Mr. Peanut and Slick .... I won't be watching.

As Surgeon General of the US, Joyce Elders was a member of the Commissioned Uniformed part of the US Public Health Service. The uniform of the USPHS unfortunatly looks just like a US Navy officers uniform with the exception of the symbol just above the stripes which identifies the wearer as USPHS.

She’s just stylin’ and profilin’ in her Public Health Service uniform with the stripes of a full admiral. Who knows whether she’s authorized — but as for her NDSM ribbob, I seriously doubt that anyone awarded it to her, save herself.
