NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: In the meantime, cracking down on illegals, the centerpiece of my next guest's presidential campaign, pretty much like the assemblyman's here, but he's not getting any traction.
Why is that? It seems his message is falling on deaf ears, in fact. And he really was ahead of this before anyone, Republican presidential candidate Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo.
Congressman, I do not mean to bash your presidential prospects, but, on this one issue, where you have been ahead of really most anyone on the national basis, it's not gelling. What's going on?
(CROSSTALK)
REP. TOM TANCREDO, R-COLO., PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: I should hope you wouldn't want to bash it. You're the one that actually got me into this. Every single time I was on your show, you would always say: "Are you going to announce it? Are you going to announce it?"
(LAUGHTER)
CAVUTO: Well, I want a free invite to the White House; that's all.
(CROSSTALK)
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
TANCREDO: Well, that is hard to say.
I will tell you, this whole thing is a difficult thing to analyze from my point of view. I have to start from a position where certainly name recognition, you know, when it's compared to the guys who are in the top tier, so to speak...
CAVUTO: Good point. Good point.
TANCREDO: ... and especially the money that they have that I certainly don't have. So, we're going to start form a relatively small base.
But look what happened in Iowa in the straw poll. We ended up I ended up fourth out of a field of about 10, I think, nine or 10. And, frankly, the day before we went in, I was still polling at, like, 2 percent. So, something happened, and I think a lot of people went in and said, "You know, I'm going to vote for this guy; I believe in him." And I ended up, as I say, in a fairly respectable position, considering the field of candidates.
More at the link, but nothing about the “border battle.” Headline should read something like: “Rep. Tancredo on Debate Battle.”
On Jimmy Carters US School Board:
"There is no constitutional role of the federal government to have the Department of Education. I dont believe we should have the U.S. Department of Education."

Of course Tancredos not getting any political traction how can he. Hes battling the entire Corporate World, all Mainstream Media - Dobbs, President Bush, All Dems, Most in the Gop, all Academia. Thats it, game over, angry citizens support means little in big time politics.
Its Sad to, Tancredo is the only candidate calling for serious change with illegal immigration.
I agree with you, I have seen and heard the man and he’s a great speaker and connects with the crowd very well. The MSM won’t cover him or Hunter either for that matter.
I hope these two can get in a good position in the next administration though...unless something drastic happens.

Where do you get such an idea? Duncan Hunter has a record of getting legislation through to address the problem. Tom, though great on the subject, has yet to prove any accomplishments. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/july-dec07/hunter_09-26.html
JUDY WOODRUFF: You also have been adamant in saying that you think that the illegals, known illegals in this country should be deported. How do you go about finding them?
REP. DUNCAN HUNTER: Well, I think, to some degree, we're like a boat that's got a big hole in it, and we're bailing water furiously. You have to plug the hole in the boat, which means you have to secure the border.
Once you secure the border, we have a deportation system, in fact, for people that say, "You can't deport people by the thousands," we deport thousands of people from this country every month. And if we don't, if we don't adhere to the law, the many people who are here right now, the millions of people who are here right now, who came in illegally after the amnesty of the 1980s, came in after the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House held up a big sign and we said, "This time we really mean it," 1986, I believe. We said, "We really mean it. Nobody else can come in illegally." And folks came in illegally and left tire tracks on those signs.
Now, if you don't have -- if we don't follow the law, if we say, "OK, we didn't really mean it, we're going to have another amnesty," you will have another wave of people trying to get in to catch what they perceive will be the third amnesty.
So you have to follow the law. And besides that, you've got people waiting in line. And whether it's ever stated or not, the number of people that have to wait in line, follow the law, actually are put off and are delayed because of the huge number of people who take cuts in that line by coming in illegally, so you've got to have a law. And you've got to follow the rule of law.
And we're like a house that doesn't have any sides to it. And we argue over how wide the front door should be open. We have the biggest front door in the world in this country. We've got to have sides on the house. And that's what the border fence and Border Patrol will comprise.

Didn’t Tancredo recently get a billed passed in the house that outlawed Sanctuary cities for illegals. That’s doing something.
The liberal media has too much power. The only candidates who are strong on the border and the only real conservatives ,Tancredo and Duncan Hunter, will never get the media exposure they need to win.
The liberal\Democrat media keeps leading the country on a path toward becoming a 3rd world socialist state.
Yes, you are correct about Tancredo and the sanctuary cities recent amendment. Thanks for reminding me.
I've been very charitable to Duncan Hunter because I like him and consider him a close second to Tancredo. But I'm about sick of Hunter fans making this claim - that Tancredo has no accomplishments on the illegal immigration issue.
It is outright false and straight foolish to make such a claim.
If you want to make the point that Hunter is also right on illegal immigration, please do so. But distorting Tancredo's record and accomplishments at the same time is distasteful.
I’d forgotten about the recent amendment, which I acknowleged.
Please list for us other legislation that Tancredo has gotten enacted as law.
If anyone wants immigration to be a campaign issue, you’re out of luck if you’re waiting for the MSM to make it one.
You have to do it yourself:
1. Go to campaign appearances.
2. Ask real questions (not rants) designed to make other candidates look bad.
3. Upload the response to video sites.
There are some questions here:

Ill up you one.
Please list for us legislation that Tancredo has not gotten enacted as law.
Thank you.
Tancredo will remain a Colorado Congressman for 2 more terms.
Then he will be redistricted. A close contest will ensue. He will lose as suspicious votes (illegals, imaginaries, multiples) come in late on Tuesday and early Wednesday. It's called the "Sanchez Effect."
