Well...the Indians also came from elsewhere originally...people don't grow out of the ground...so, essentially everyone, in every country is, by that definition, an immigrant or the descendant of an immigrant...and all nations are "Nations of Immigrants"...and, for that reason, no nation has any right but to admit immigrants...but I would say there is a difference between people who are colonists who's descendants later form a nation and people who are immigrants to an existing nation.
Ultimately, it should not matter whether your father or grandfather...or mine...was an immigrant...what may have been good policy for the US in 1907...may not be good policy in 2007...so I see no hypocrisy in saying that circumstances change and we no longer need immigration
Now...people may disagree...but to me, the only valid arguments for immigration are that "it would benefit the American people because [fill in the blank]"
Arguing that one supports immigration because their grandparents immigrated...or because it only seems fair...or because most Americans are descended from immigrants...those facts should be irrelevant to the only important question...would a particular immigration policy benefit Americans at this point in time?
You're right...that was out of line...no one deserves to be called that...I apologize

Denies involvement in 9/11 conspiracy theories
Paul has said that he does not believe the attack on the World Trade Center was a part of a government conspiracy and has explicity denied any association with the “9/11 Truth Movement.” On the Mike Gallagher radio show on July 19, 2007, he said: “Some people try to twist what I say and turn it into that, and I think some of my supporters lean in that direction, but that’s not my position. I do think government’s basically inept. I mean we were spending $40 billion a year collecting intelligence and a lot of information was out there. We had one FBI agent, I think sent dozens and dozens of memos to his superiors saying that there are people trying to fly airplanes but not land them, and nobody would pay any attention. So, I don’t think that’s a conspiracy. I think that’s a lot of bureaucracy that doesn’t work very well. And, then when we have government investigations, whether it’s 9/11 or assassinations, I think the main goal is to protect the government and to protect their ineptness - not - and that is a lot different than saying ‘Oh they conspired to do this so they can use this as an excuse to spread the war in the Middle East whether they had anything to do with 9/11 or not.’ I don’t see it that way. But, I believe some who did want to spread the war would use it as an opportunity. But, it wasn’t something that was deliberately done.” [61] When Paul was asked by Shawn Wasson in an interview on LiveLeak.com if he believed that “9/11 was orchestrated by the government,” Paul responded emphatically, “Absolutely not.”[62] Paul was again asked in an interview on Fox News on August 5 if he agreed with the conspiracy theorists; he explicitly said that he does not believe that 9/11 was a government conspiracy and that he does not think the government would stage an attack.[63]
I think no immigration is a mistake, pure and simple.
I was joking but thanks anyway.
Joking about the tears not the dem thing.
And then he goes back on Alex Jones....
Truthers lie and make up/distort facts to bolster their agenda. IMO Ron Paul does the same; right out of the Truther playbook. This most recent association with the Truther/wacko Alex Jones is just another in a series of instances that show the real Ron Paul.
Go ahead. Spin it any way you want. No one is going to believe you because no one any longer believes Ron Paul. And your continuing the spin on this issue makes you just as wacko a libertarian Truther as Ron Paul.
Paul’s a kook, but he’s my kook dammit!
I’ve seen that video and it is consistent with Paul’s past and present statements.
lol, I am a truther now?
Paul supports a re-investigation into 9/11 because he believes all government investigations are suspect (including the one he'd support I suppose). He'd work to prompt such an investigation knowing he's aiding Truther claims.
You support Ron Paul to the extent you acknowledge this has been his position all along ("it is consistent with Paul's past and present statements"). Thus you support said investigation making you a Truther.
Send her articles about all the recent progress in the war. They really hate that. ;-)
>>>>But...who is advising Ron Paul to go on this guy’s show?
What other program would have him?
How much rope do you need?
oh common, he’s just saying that government is incompetant and trying to cover their @sses and that these political and ideological charades of investigations (’charade’ was the term used by Rush Limbaugh to describe the 9/11 commission) just lead to recommendations for bigger and greater government and more freedom restrictions.
You recall, the 9/11 comission recommended a consolidation into a new ‘homeland security’ agency, I mean, what is the point? The government is a joke, we conservatives are quick to recongize that economically, yet somehow when it comes to security and foreign policy ‘conservatives’ seem to gain some sort of trust that government can take care of us and protect us... I’m not quite sure why this is...
Truthers apparently eat this sort of stuff up, but they are reading into it the wrong way, as are many on FR who associate Paul with Truthers.
I challange anyone to post anything controversial Ron Paul says today on the Alex Jones program, or any statements he’s said on past programs and I think you won’t find any. He’s running for President and he’s going to be on radio shows across the county. Before he was on Alex Jones a lot cuz no one else would take him, this is now changing. :)
Alex Jones is the fat nutball on the History Channel expose of the 9/11 conspiracy, right? He’s a real moonbat.
