If hes not a true, blue, card-carrying Christian-forget it. Evangelicals will never vote a Mormon for any office...its a matter of principle.
So if Romney turns out to be the nominee, the Evangelicals will not vote for him, thus insuring that a Marxist will become President of the U.S.

They have to say that so that their church groups and evangelical social circles won't accuse them of blasphemy, lest they be seen as going against the flock.
They'll pull the lever for Romney, then tell everyone they abstained or voted 3rd party. Evangelicals aren't stupid enough to let a Soviet win the election because they have some issues with Mormonism.

"Thanks Evangelicals, you're certainly getting what you deserve".I thought in the primaries you are "primarily" voting for someone--not simply against someone. So the broader question is: "Why would Republican voters vote for anyone they know the base will not support?" (Be it Rudy, Mitt, or whomever?)
