This afternoon we received a call from a viewer who said a business near downtown Reno was flying a Mexican flag above an American flag... which is in fact illegal.
This, after photos and comments about the flag were posted on Craigslist this morning. When we were able to have a photographer go and check everything out we found the story to be true.
It also didn t take long before the situation provoked a strong reaction. We are now going to show you , unedited, what happened. Click on the video to see what happened.

I look at it this way: Assume that the dude cutting down the flag broke the law. Assume the guy flying the flag did not break the law. The shear politics of this is great. The Left pretty much dominates when it comes to protesting and civil disobedience. This is a great way for conservatives to do the same thing. It will force the illegal immigration issue back to the front page. We can highlight Mexicans doing the same things during their protests and highlight how this is not reported in the MSM. Lets have that conversation. I want politicians to be forced to answer questions on this subject. I want Democrats to stand up and say it is okay for people to fly the Mexican flag over the American flag. This is civil disobedience at its finest. The flag cutter may go to jail but he will likely be happy to considering the debate he started. If he does go to jail then it will then set a precedent for jailing Mexicans that do the same thing to the American flag. Right or wrong, this will work out in conservatives favor.
Marine Bump for the Vet who took the Mexican flag down.
If this bar owner wants to fly the Mexican flag above the American flag he needs to go down to Mexico.
Who knew there were so many book writin’ Johnstones???? LOL!!
Agree!!!...LOL
Saw it on hot sir this am. I don’t think I would have challenged him. Owner stood right there and later claimed ignorance.
That's fine, after $20,000 in lawyer fees he could walk. Ever hear of "Punishment by Process"????
He is a phuckin moron. My 75 year old WWII vet grandfather(God Rest His Soul) knew not a lick of English or anything about our Flag laws and had the common sense to know that its the American flag that should be flying high and proudly over any other in this country. I remember being young and visiting my grandparents in Greece they always had the Greek flag flying high outside their houses and businesses and god forbid anyone who tried to insult their country's flag like some people are doing in this country today. This kind of PC Flag stupidity would not take place in any other country. I'd like to see peoples reaction if the American flag was flown like this in Mexico.
Mexican Flag etiquette is very strict and is is essential that Flag protocols and rules are followed correctly
Basic Flag Etiquette applies to all nations, including Mexican as follows:
* Etiquette relating to the order of precedence for the flag
* * National Flag of Mexico
* * State Flag of Mexico
* * Military Flag of Mexico (in order of creation date)
* * Other Flag of Mexico
* The United Nations uses alphabetical order when presenting a national flag including the Mexican Flag. Their flag etiquette ensures that no one country's flag has precedence over another country's flag
*The National flag of Mexico should never be flown above another national flag on the same staff as this would suggest superiority, or conversely, inferiority of one flag, or Nation, over another
* The Mexican flag should never be allowed to drag along the ground
* A tattered or faded flag of Mexico should be removed and replaced with a new flag
* Due care and consideration must be taken to ensure that the Mexican flag is always flown the correct way up
* A Flag of Mexico, when in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning in private with all due care and respect

Most of those Flag Etiquette applies to every single country's Flag Etiquette around the world but I guess some in this country feel its only OK when Flag Etiquette is broken in the US of A. < /sarc >
If you moved here because Mexico isn't good enough for you, don't bring Mexico here.
You do the other and you may be walking around, but youre dead as a beaver hat. ___ John Wayne in The Alamo
There's the "So."
The Mexican flag was an in-your-face challenge, and the vet was man enough to answer it.
Rank emotionalism.
I imagine that had you been at the Battle of Lexington and Concord, you'd be all for prosecuting the colonists for firing on the Redcoats.
WTG good job!
Quoted from another thread...
“Our robust and meaningful democracy is built upon our First Amendment, which protects our right to express ourselves even when - indeed, particularly when - that expression is distasteful or unpopular. “ACLU
There you go ...the ACLU the fighters of freedom of speech that you have posted about.
Now ..according to that statement ...no one should be upset when I express myself by tearing down and burning Mexican flags, even if you do find it distasteful.
Another point that the flag violators need to understand...
Long in our countrys history going back to the Revolutionary War, our flag has been hoisted to show victory in wartime over territories fought. It is a sacred symbol to many, and anyone hoisting a Mexican flag should know that to many they are thumbing their noses and saying ....we are the victors...we have conquered.
NOT while I am breathing will their flag become a norm to be flown in the USA. And thats my right to say and express protected by the freedom of speech you hold so dear.
If it’s your flag on your property, go right ahead.
Vandalism is a crime. That’s what graffiti taggers are prosecuted on ... they’re excercising their free speech in the form of spray paint on other people’s property. To stop them is not a free speech issue, it’s a vandalism issue.
Is it ok to vandalize a car with a “Support our Troops” bumper sticker on it?
Is it ok to vandalize a car with an “Impeach Bush” bumber sticker on it?
Where is the line?
