This afternoon we received a call from a viewer who said a business near downtown Reno was flying a Mexican flag above an American flag... which is in fact illegal.
This, after photos and comments about the flag were posted on Craigslist this morning. When we were able to have a photographer go and check everything out we found the story to be true.
It also didn t take long before the situation provoked a strong reaction. We are now going to show you , unedited, what happened. Click on the video to see what happened.

Yep. Besides, the gentleman's other hand was obviously full of milspec Ka-Bar.
You should forward this little tidbit to that news station.
Nice find.
Lorianne, you don’t know an invasion when it hits you square in the face.
No!
It was an act of patriotic heroism.
You want to fly that POS Mexican flag over MY flag?
I think not!
I'm one of those "rough men", that stood ready to do harm to those that would disturb our way of life and without whom, you would not have had the peaceful sleep you enjoyed.
And although I'm retired, now, I still stand ready to do harm to those that would desecrate my flag, if need be.
That piece of cloth is many things to me, not the least of which is the fact that it is representative of every thing good about my beloved country. When I see it proudly waving in a slight breeze, I am reminded of the great men that formed the republic for which it stands.
Sounds corny, huh? But I have shed my life-blood for that flag, I would do so again, for if I ever allowed that flag to be disrespected and desecrated in my presence and stood idle and did not defend it, then I may as well be dead and all my ideals die with me. I suspect the brave man in the video felt the same way.
Vandalism, you say?
No, my dear...vandalism would be if the hero in the clip had ripped the pole off the building, kicked a hole in the side of the building, urinated on the POS Mexican flag and then wrapped the owner in the flag before igniting it.
That would have been vandalism...and damned funny, too.
You,...and all the other kumbayah-chanting, birkenstock-wearing free-loving hippies need to wake up and see that our beloved country is being invaded.
We are fighting on two fronts: the illegal mexican invaders that suck the taxes out of our pockets via their abuse of our medical facilities and welfare agencies and the insidious invasion by the islamic/muslim nutballs with their koran and their jihadist crap.
But no, you'll never see it.
Not as long as you're blinded by your "free speech" silliness.
If you really, really think that flying the mex flag above the Flag of the United States of America, in America, is a "free speech" issue, then, darling, all I can say is...You, Jane Fonda and John F'n Kerry need to get together and form a Mutual Admiration Society.
As for me, and my kind, we'll keep on keeping on, laying waste to your version of "free speech" and making sure the mex flag or the islamic/muslamic flag stays exactly where it needs to be: below the Flag of the United States of America and beneath my heel.
I salute the brave man in the video.
I also pledge here and now, that if he is arrested for "vandalism", I will pay his legal fees to defend himself in whatever court of law necessary.
I've also got a crisp, new one-hundred dollar bill that says he will never be convicted by a jury of his peers.
What have you got?
For it to be defined as vandalism, it has to be a lawful commercial expression, in compliance with local ordnances. Let's exclude what these banners were, and instead look at the local ordnances. Displaying of a banner over a commercial enterprise requires a permit in Reno, Nevada. I'm sure a check of the proper licensing bureau will show that no banner permits were filed for the display in question. Whereas an American flag would traditionally be ignored by any code enforcement officers, it is still not a legally proper display at a business without the requisite permit.
Removal of an illegal display would only create the liability of actual damages. IE: If I hang a banner in front of my business that drapes across a handicapped parking stall, and a van busted it down pulling into the space, my actual 'loss' would entail the string that held it up.
So the Vet in question had a liability of five bucks, the actual 'loss' of the flag, the owner would have to demonstrate that they received zero compensation from that loss (an impossible thing to prove, but I guarantee that there are those in Reno right now who are going to his business because of the publicity of the news story), so his actual 'losses' are zero.
Now, if you were talking about someone's home where this occurred, my stance (and I'm pretty sure most everyone elses' on this board) would be completely different.
Here
And the dude had it up ,Bet that Mex forgot how to speak spanish ..
I’m right there beside you.
“Was anyone else disturbed by the way he man-handled the U.S. flag? I mean, he shoved it under his armpit like it was a balled-up rag.”
The armpit of a patriotic veteran is ABSOLUTELY a better place for the flag than flying under a Meskin flag. Get your priorities straight!
But how do your really feel, Sarge?
I really wish you wouldn’t bottle up your feelings.
;-P
Seriously, this event, and the recent similar one at the New Mexico college, shows that real Americans in the Southwest have had more than enough. Our political class better start paying attention.
I say its about time somebody threw a tantrum
Let the mexicans go home and clean up their own country instead of trying to screw over Uncle Sam
Right, because if we don't, we're all just big bad intolerant meanies, and Oh Dear we can't have that now
Well, if the guy who took down the Mex flag gets in trouble, I will donate to his defense fund. Personally, I want my country back and I want it back now...
The guy you got would probably arrest Jim Bronson for being mean to one of his precious buddies from South of the so-called border.
Twice I’ve deleted this message. The nicest thing I can find to say is when you find a country you love, you should go there.
Good job!
God Bless our Military!
It is quite obvious to everyone here that you do not love this Country that gave you the right to say the horrible things you say about it.
Yes, you have a right to say what you do but that doesn't mean we Americans have to like you because we do not.
That did it!
It's been a "free for all" when it comes to the Hispanics in this country for years now, if you haven't noticed??
To hell with what's political correct. It's destroying us. Illegal is Illegal, and just because foreigners plead ignorance when it comes to OUR laws, doesn't make it right. If they want to "honor" their country above ours, they should leave.
Stand up for America and your fellow countryman. Stand up for this BRAVE American Veteran. God Bless Him!!
