"On September 27, 204 Marines and soldiers who were returning from Iraq were not allowed into the passenger terminal at Oakland International Airport. Instead they had to deplane about 400 yards away from the terminal where the extra baggage trailers were located."
This was not a security measure. After going through super-tight security, checking for contraband, ammunition and explosives in Kuwait, the soldiers and Marines had been allowed in the terminal building in Germany and at JFK in New York. But on the far-left coast they were quarantined from civilians.

They are always shocked, but appreciative
It doesn’t hurt to ask......
A Combat Hardened MARINE Detachment, "At Close Quarters Hnd-To-Hand Combat" vs. Liberal Left Coasters,....hmmm.... now who would win?
Commercial flts are far easier to book.
We always used commercial when I was in the military.
In fact, I was the travel coordinator

If they got nuked, I wouldn't miss them.
Well, thank you for showing all of our appreciation to them.
There is still some of us there.
I fly because of work and that airport is only a few miles from home so it is my primary airport. When I get home from this trip I plan to put as much carbon in the atmosphere as possible just to pi** off a commie liberal.
Anytime.

No one.
I agree with you.
The most fun trip I've had in years was a great stay in Northern Michigan in late March, and the long trip in each direction with 4 stops each way.
The really cool part was that at each layover, at the bar or restaurant where I ate or had a smoke/beer, there was at least one serviceperson who got his drink/meal paid for, and will never know who, but will certainly know why...
When I left the Nam we were enroute to Travis. Fog prevented
the landing and we were diverted to SF Int’l at 0330hr.
They had to call in Customs Officers to process us. I was first in line at a search station. The officer finally showed up. The She/He (Dyke) was not happy and did a number on my main bag. When she started in on my AWOL bag ——
I had enough and asked her: “You like seaching men’s dirty
underwear do’ya?” OMG!! At that time a Customs Supervisor
was walking by. She/He (Dyke) gave me a Ma Duce look and said to the Super: “I need relief” and walked off.
The Super looked at me and I gave him the ‘I don’t know what happened’ look. He signed the slip and said: “Procede”
Not bad for a Welcome Home!!!!! Cleaned out a She/He (Dyke)
at SL Int’l!!!
Not entirely true.
Up here in Washington, McChord AFB has chartered commercial flights landing and taking off DAILY to avoid those “people” up at SEATAC.
lol.....you are so bad.
I suppose your right the Marines are too disciplined to be uncivil.
Good for you!
This is not the NAM time period....Americans will be in an absolute outrage over this. Oakland has got one hell of a problem over this.
I’d have to agree with you on all points.
