I always just went through security with the lighter in my pocket.
Now that is pretty funny.
Fortunately, I recently quit smoking so I’m no longer a security risk.
I can go through airport screening with multiple lighters in my carry on bags and they never get checked.
On one flight to Italy I had a backpack that carried my digital camera and a telephoto lens. They pulled that bag aside and wiped it with explosive detecting paper. Any fool could tell it was a telephoto lens. He had to move the lighter aside to see inside the backpack.
But, when they scanned me at the gate of the BMW Championship, the hand-wand lit up over my tube of chapstick.
Weird.
