It is getting to look like China's Tiananmen Square over there in Rangoon, Burma right now.
Troops led by the pro-Chinese Burma military junta are in the streets, firing on all kinds of unarmed people.
The troops are being directly commanded by the top now, because local commanders earlier today refused to fire on the demonstrators (mostly unarmed Bhuddist monks).
The death of Japanese journalist Kenji Nagai (50), seen in above photo just after fatal chest wound, was confirmed just a few hours ago. Top news in Japan tonight as news spreads and images are pirated out of Burma by internet, cell phones, etc.

Every dictator’s dream: an unarmed populace. Prayers that the “good guys” win this one in Myanmar.

Sounds like those who are un-armed NEED to be armed ASAP

Will this make the national news - will Hollywood care?
I mean, its not Tibet, but it's at least close...

Sounds like someone left their sarcasm tag at home today.....

Prayers that the good guys win this one in Myanmar. And they'll finally change the name back to Burma. I mean "Myanmar Shave" or the "Myanmar Road" just doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Maybe. Maybe not. It depends. On the one hand, I recall in Manila about 20 years ago, when it was all initially done with a bunch of unarmed Filipina nuns right there on the front lines staring street into the bayonets and gun turrets.

My prayers go out to Mr. Nagai's family.
How horrible.

Now if they had a Second Amendment...

China’s statement tonight issued through their Foreign Ministry spokesbitch was the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a long time. Of course, since they are in tight with Burma’s military dictators, and their own bloody legacy in running over students, they are not in a position to be very critical over this.

I do not see a picture showing anyone shot down at close range.
I see a soldier walking by someone on the ground....but that is it.

Uh, Mr. Obvious says that the dead guy lying on the ground with the soldier walking by is very likely the one shot down at close range.

Maybe Carter should go there to verify the last election and legitimize another dictatorship.
Jim-mah never met a junta he didn’t love!
