Elections have consequences.

The Executive Branch is the only thing holding back the socialist floodgates.

Dingell seems to know what size house the unwashed “should” live in.

Interesting.

These people are dangerous, dumb and in office.

And how is Senator “Ding-Dong” going to get back and forth to Michigan and DC? By horse? Is he going to walk? How about a train?

Not likely. He’s one of those “do as we say, not as we do” folks.

Is the fact that the democrat party wants to increase ALL taxes a great big surprise to anybody? These socialist redistributors want to take what you have worked for and give it to some program to address some imagined problem. They want to enable those who are dependent upon entitlements. When will this end? They will be taxing our taxes and then taxing us when we take a crap. Tax me, tax me, tax me.

Democrat Wants Higher Gas Taxes, New Carbon Fees [50-cents-a-gallon
tax on gasoline...]

For DECADES, Democrats/Environmentalists kept lobbying for higher-
priced gasoline in order to "promote conservation".

Well, they got their wish...just not in the way they wanted.
Because their plan was to have $4.00/gal gasoline, and have
about $3.00 of that be tax!

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, is proposing a new carbon tax to reduce U.S. energy consumption.

Man if the republicans can not capitalize on the punitive nature of Democratic tax policy they deserve to lose..

and a phase-out of the mortgage interest deduction on what he called "McMansions."

LOL good luck with that! Start telling people who have worked their whole lives to buy their dream home youre going to take away a deduction which has been almost automatic for decades.

He said diesel fuel and biofuels that do not contain petroleum would be exempt from the additional tax.

Ummm burning anything *including biofuels* releases co2 in fact it burns more!

Octane (n-dodecane):

C12H26 + 18.5 O2   12 CO2 + 13 H2O 18.5 x energy units.

Glucose via ethanol:
    Glucose 2 C6H12O6                  4 CO2  +  4 C2H5OH
    Ethanol: 4  C2H5OH +  12 O2  8 CO2  + 12 H2O

  2   C6H12O6 + 12 O2      12 CO2  + 12 H2O 12.0 x energy units

I would support a Gas Tax, it would really hurt Democrats the most.

Why aren’t the UAW members hammering on the top of Dingell’s car, chasing him around like AARP members did to Rostenkowski? Does he want Michigan to have its own depression as opposed to its very own recession that it is currently suffering?

Every time they raise taxes on the American people, they should also cut their salaries by 25%. You’ll never see another tax raised. We need our taxes cut, unless it is to pay for a war. What they want is control by taking money away from the American people. They don’t even know if Global Warming even exists or if it does, what is causing it but yet they want to tax us on it. Bunch of fools.

“Dingell admits that reducing greenhouse gas emissions will be a “massive undertaking,” but he believes higher taxes and fees are “the most effective way” to solve the problem.”

No, the most effective way to solve the problem (assuming it even is a problem) would be to sell or give our emissions technology to China and India. Halving (or more) their potential pollution is far more effective and economical than trying to squeeze out another half a percent of emissions reduction out of our cars and trucks.

But, hey, it is all America’s fault, right?

This is just another stinking money grab by the libs. You will still be able to drive what you like, but there will just be more “gas guzzler” taxes to punish you and reward politicians.

The DemonRATs are not targeting the rich with their “tax the rich” lip service, they are targeting families. When the American family cannot afford to heat their homes, DemonRAT social service workers will find them, take their children and jail the parents for child abuse. The children will be sent to foster homes with sex couples.

This taxation is meant to grow the numbers of government workers needed to enforce nanny state social engineering policy.

Actually, for a Democrat, these aren’t bad proposals.

The home mortgage deduction has caused massive home inflation. No reason to “encourage home ownership” by subsidizing mortgages over a million. Unfortunately, the time for this proposal is when the market is not in crisis, when it could have been phased in to moderate the gain, instead of accelerating the decline. One could grandfather existing mortgages, but resale takes a major hit.

Also, no reason to make 2nd homes including yachts and Luxo RVs interest deductible.

(But rates must be lowered to offset these effects.)

The gas tax I could live with if it really kept all those poor folks off the road. I’d pay more for that!

Of course, all gas taxes should be kept and spent by the state, not the feds, to keep them spending on roads, not Euro-trash trolley boondoggles no one uses.

People, people, people. You fail to see what a deal we’re getting for a mere 50 cents a gallon. We will no doubt have a reduction in the use of the dreaded fossil fuels, and a smaller carbon footprint (picture a whopping size 12 Wide cut down to maybe a 7), thereby saving the planet. Not to mention the bonus of universal healthcare. Universal! All courtesy of our forward-looking friends in the federal government. Is that the dawn of utopia that I see on the horizon?
