Note there is no plan to use the taxes to fix the environment, it is simply a plan to punish people.

If the theory is a $0.50 gas tax would reduce consumption, what does Dingell think a doubling of gas prices of the last few years have done?

If Dingellberry's proposal used the taxes to fund nuclear power plants, I might feel differently.

So they went from talking about tax CUTS a year a go (so they could win the 2006 elections) to talking tax HIKES. I guess I am surprised they lasted this long.

I’m rapidly coming to my own conclusions about global warming. Sure enough, just in time to see proposed taxes from democrats over the issue.

The Dems really ought to let everyone know that they want to raise gas taxes 50 cents a gallon and take away tax breaks for homeowners. The voters should be very happy to hear that.

Besides the fact that this pol wants to increase taxes to 'fix' something that has not even been proven to exist (human caused global warming), it is yet more proof that the mental midgets we call politicians have only one solution for everything: raise taxes..

They already take 3,000,000,000,000 dollars a year from us. But, not enough. They want it all and if that means fabricating stories to get it, no problem. After all, they are politicians.

The more they tax you, the more control they have over you. They don’t need a reason for the tax.........just take it. Our government is in the taking mood and we have too much freedom for them. The people of this country need to take control back. This is our country, not theirs.

We have to got to stop paying for this enslavement for our own good. Solving problems by taxing people is not going to solve anything.

Aww, come on, this is the same methodology that has been used on cigarette prices for a number of years by the many states. Raise the taxes, people gripe, they don’t get up in arms...

Oh, wait, that’s right, these morons are targetting the largest group of voters out there. Then again, if Bush signs it, it becomes a Republican raise.

It’s climate change. Not global warming.

Unless the earth remains perfectly stable in temperature (which it never has) we will be punished for our energy-using sins.

This climate change garbage has little to do with weather and much to do with power and control.

There ain’t enough taxes in the world, even on an international scale, to deal with global warming resulting from solar/planetary effects.

Rep. John Dingell, who is marking his 52nd year in Congress

I call again for all politicians to let us know exactly what prescription drugs they are on.

Is it not interesting that a large segment of the senior population in this country have problems with dementia, forgetfullness, their minds slowing down, but no one in congress!!

Is it not interesting that the vast majority of seniors in this country are on multiple prescriptions, and many of these prescriptions have side effects that alter brain function for the worse, but no one in congress!!

It is time for the peeples to know what prescriptions all politicians are on. We need to know if they are using prescriptions that are altering their decision making processes. If a politician that can decide law, that can confiscate my money, that can make decisions of life and death is taking a prescription that alters brain function, we the peeples should know about it!

And yes, I am talking only about legal drugs here.

People need to write their Congressmen and demand no new taxes. It worked with the immigration bill....we proved that. Close down the switchboard at the White House again. They haven’t even proven that there is Global Warming yet but they want to tax us on it. It’s not Global Warming....it’s the money they want.

I just emailed this article to everyone in my address book. So should every Freeper. Nothing pisses off peple more than high gas prices. They need to see the biggest cause of high prices. TAXES at every level of government being tacked on.
