The Homeland Security Department is suing Illinois to undo a new state law the federal agency says would make it more difficult to enforce the nation's immigration laws.
The law is an amendment to Illinois's Right to Privacy in the Workplace Act" which would make it impossible, says Homeland Security, for employers to participate in a voluntary federal program many currently use to verify whether new employees are legally entitled to work in the U.S...

IF Homeland Security-Chertoff are actually trying to do something
about reporting/deporting/prosecuting illegal immigrants, crimaliens, etc...
power to him.
Too bad Dubya didn’t totally come to his senses on 9-11-01...
and include this in his otherwise-admirable program to protect the USA
and our legal residents.
The Grassley-Baucus-Obama amendment #1441 would "substitute Title III of the immigration bill with a whole new Title III that establishes a much more workable Employment Eligibility Verification System that protects worker's privacy, protects workers from discriminatory practices, and allows employers to have confidence in the legality of their workforce."
The Baucus-Testor amendment #1236 "Eliminates from pending immigration bill any requirements that a person present a Real ID-compliant driver's license to get work."
There is a brewing resistance in the Congress to linking Real ID to EEV and merging the SSA and DHS databases.
For more info, google the amendment numbers.
Now if they would just get Daley on the Sanctuary City crap & hold back his Olympics!
So democrats in Illinois tried to make a law that violates federal law? They basically said its okay to commit tax fraud in the name of illegals.

I have been a bookkeeper most of my adult life. I have been a payroll supervisor.
There is a form I-9, which has been in place for many years. EVERY new employee MUST be vetted on this form. There are a number of ways for a person to prove who they are, but it knocks out persons not entitled to work in the USA if the form is corectly followed by the employer.
It has been in place for MANY years- late 80’s or very early 90’s.
I don’t know how any state could think they could pass legislation which would contradict this form and the purposes for it.
For employers today to say that they cannot figure out who is and who is NOT legal to work here, it is just plain crap, IMO.
I admit that false documents are getting more and more sophisticated,- thanks to the fancy color copiers-, but if you are paying attention and don’t want the $5,000 /day fine for each and every illegal, you will do your homeowrk and pre-clear these “employees”.
This is pure laziness, IMO, on the part of employers who want to skirt the laws.
Build the wall!!!!!!!
corectly
correctly oooops
DHS is cracking down. The plan is to crack down so much that Congress tells them to back off.
They are also minimizing Homeland Security grants to cities with sanctuary policies.
Exactly, this administration and DHS have done everything to minimize enforcement, and their clumsy attempts to appear otherwise are only designed to fan the flames.
>>The plan is to crack down so much that Congress tells them to back off.<<
That’s what I thought at first, but I’m not so sure now. Maybe they really did a 180-degree turn and are reacting to what is really a rebellion against federal law. They really should sue the “sanctuary cities” too.
I have seen it in several stories....they are going to hit the employers hard for the fake Soc Sec Numbers, and do some high profile raids to make everyone start hand ringing....like that chick in LA who was nabbed outside the church.
In other news, the Mexican Congress is meeting in Los Angeles this week to pick the delegates that will be located in the United States. Yes, official Mexican congressmen serving the Mexican population within US borders....havent heard jack about that have ya?
Well, even if you are wrong about DHS’s motives for suddenly deciding to crack down, if they turned 180 degrees once, they can do it again. (Like the Japanese Imperial Navy at the battle of Leyte Gulf.)
DHS certainly has earned our mistrust, with Chertoff running around campaigning for amnesty a couple of months ago.
>>Yes, official Mexican congressmen serving the Mexican population within US borders....havent heard jack about that have ya?<<
I’m appalled but not surprised. One way or another, Mexico will demand that we treat their people better than their govt. does.
