If there were an actual criminal investigation of trans fats that leads to prosecutions, CSPI should be prosecuted. I'm sure "Tiny" would love to make Michael Jacobson his "girlfriend". :-D

On a daily basis people just go about their routines ... we have been taught to believe there are agencies whose job it is to oversee our food and drugs for safety and health. Of course this is not true, in fact: rather it is another bureaucracy with all the redundancy and total inefficiency of government departments. Unfortunately a very hight percentage of people are addicted to fast foods.
The bottom line is we all will die one day ... this way we are rushing to it. One way to control population I suppose.
I HATE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR FOODS SUPPLY. STOP IT.

In his 1971 book, The Chemical Feast, Ralph Nader claimed that research had shown that food preservatives such as BHT and BHA CAUSE CANCER. He lied. I read the original research paper a few years later. BHA and BHT PREVENT cancer in lab rats! Such preservatives also prevent fats from oxidizing and becoming rancid which is a major cause of heart disease and cancer.

This is what happens when libs try to “fix” things. I wonder what the earth will look like after they attempt to “fix” Gore-bal warming.

Great article, thanks.
I've theorized for quite some time that dietary trans fats are the cause of our massive societal addiction to antidepressants.
Our brains are made up of something like 70% fats. Many studies have shown that good fats do good things for the brain. Fish oils will mitigate depression and bipolar. Vitamin e will slow the progression of Alzheimer's. CoQ10 slows progression of Parkinson's. That's just off the top of my head, you get the idea.
So if GOOD fats do GOOD things for the brain, is it not then logical to assume that BAD fats will in turn do BAD things for the brain?
I can't prove it though....

90% of what you are told about avoiding all the closer-to-historically-normal products humans have consumed for millenia - butter, meat from animals - including the fat - salt, sugar, eggs, wheat etc is no more than $money motivated political-science masquerading as science.
If there is anything that has changed, in the human diet, with respect to the things named above and human health, it is over-consummation as a consequence of abundance and not an intrinsically “natural” problem with their consumption.
One only need look at the massive domination of high-fructose corn syrup as America’s major sweetener, the huge decline in the use of sugar (which humans have used for thousands of years) and our current diabetes epidemic to notice that - when it comes to the foods you should consume - the villains are not who you are told they are and the saviors are not saviors at all.

I just happened to be on the CSPI site the other day (I was looking up
food additives), and noticed that they advise cutting back on sugar, but give a 'safe' rating to sucralose (Splenda). Splenda is a fake sugar made by chlorinating sucrose. Their quote on it is, "just because it is synthetic does not mean it is unsafe". So, they give a 'safe' rating to Splenda (a fake sugar made with chlorine), but a 'cut back' rating to natural sugar (sucrose)! Something is seriously wrong there! As to another additive, Olestra - Proctor & Gamble should be in jail for manufacturing its Pringles with Olestra! The FDA, the World Health Organization, the US Dept of Health and Human Services, and Congress, and whoever else approved of Olestra (as well as the other additives - saccharin, aspartame, etc), are definitely not looking out for your health. You need to take your health into your own hands.
