Amazing Photo: Nun Searched for Bombs by Muslim in USA
Jihad Watch ^ | Sep 22, 2007 | Robert Spencer

Posted on 09/23/2007 8:00:31 AM PDT by Travis McGee

Hijabbed security guard frisks nun (thanks to all who sent this in).

Of course there should be random searches, and no one should be exempt -- if any group is exempt, its dress will soon be adopted by the terrorists.

But there is an absurdity to this photo. And a hint that maybe we would do better devoting our resources to searching those who are more likely to be threats -- were that not so politically incorrect.

FIQH COUNCIL OF NORTH AMERICA ISSUES FATWA AGAINST TERRORISM Fiqh Council of North America Posted Jul 28, 2005 • Permalink • Printer-Friendly Version -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 28, 2005 FIQH COUNCIL OF NORTH AMERICA ISSUES FATWA AGAINST TERRORISM The Fiqh Council of North America wishes to reaffirm Islam’s absolute condemnation of terrorism and religious extremism. Islam strictly condemns religious extremism and the use of violence against innocent lives. There is no justification in Islam for extremism or terrorism. Targeting civilians life and property through suicide bombings or any other method of attack is haram Җ or forbidden - and those who commit these barbaric acts are criminals, not martyrs.Ӕ The Quran, IslamҒs revealed text, states: “Whoever kills a person [unjustly]it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” (QurŒan, 5:32) Prophet Muhammad said there is no excuse for committing unjust acts: “Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong (even) if they do evil.” (Al-Tirmidhi) God mandates moderation in faith and in all aspects of life when He states in the Quran: ғWe made you to be a community of the middle way, so that (with the example of your lives) you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind. (QurԒan, 2:143) In another verse, God explains our duties as human beings when he says: Let there arise from among you a band of people who invite to righteousness, and enjoin good and forbid evil.Ӕ (Quran, 3:104) Islam teaches us to act in a caring manner to all of God’s creation. The Prophet Muhammad, who is described in the QurҒan as a mercy to the worldsӔ said: All creation is the family of God, and the person most beloved by God (is the one) who is kind and caring toward His family.” In the light of the teachings of the QurӒan and Sunnah we clearly and strongly state: 1. All acts of terrorism targeting civilians are haram (forbidden) in Islam. 2. It is haram for a Muslim to cooperate with any individual or group that is involved in any act of terrorism or violence. 3. It is the civic and religious duty of Muslims to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to protect the lives of all civilians. We issue this fatwa following the guidance of our scripture, the Quran, and the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad Җ peace be upon him. We urge all people to resolve all conflicts in just and peaceful manners. We pray for the defeat of extremism and terrorism. We pray for the safety and security of our country, the United States, and its people. We pray for the safety and security of all inhabitants of our planet. We pray that interfaith harmony and cooperation prevail both in the United States and all around the globe. FIQH COUNCIL OF NORTH AMERICA Members 1. Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi 2. Afghan clerics issue bin Laden fatwa

Muslim scholars supporting the Afghan opposition have issued a religious edict or fatwa declaring that the execution of the exiled Saudi dissident, Osama bin Laden, would be legal under Islamic Sharia law.

The decree was issued after a meeting in northern Afghanistan in an area controlled by the former Afghan president, Burhanuddin Rabbani.

The clerics accused Osama bin Laden of rebelling against the Islamic state of Afghanistan run by Mr Rabbani.

In an interview with the BBC, a member of the opposition Northern Alliance, Haji Abdul Qadir, speaking from Panjshir, confirmed the meeting had taken place, but said it was an independent move by the scholars. Mr bin Laden, who is in Afghanistan, is wanted by the United States in connection with bomb attacks against US embassies in East Africa in 1998.

U.S. MUSLIMS CONDEMN TERRORIST ATTACKS

(WASHINGTON, DC - 9/11/2001) - The American Muslim Political Coordination Council (AMPCC), today condemned the apparent terrorist attacks in New York and Washington and offered condolences to the families of those who were killed or injured.

The AMPCC statement read in part:

“American Muslims utterly condemn what are apparently vicious and cowardly acts of terrorism against innocent civilians. We join with all Americans in calling for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrators. No political cause could ever be assisted by such immoral acts.”

Leaders of the American Muslim Political Coordination Council (AMPCC) held a meeting in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, to issue the following points related to the terrorist attacks:

1) We assert unequivocal condemnation based on our religious values and our identity as American Muslims;

2) We do not need to defend every maniacal incident emanating from the Muslim world or the Muslim community, just as other religious groups need not defend their extremists;

3) We offer compassion to the victims and solidarity with all Americans in the face of danger;

4) Notwithstanding the disbelief that anyone following the faith of Islam could commit such a heinous crime, we condemn the act regardless of the identity of the perpetrators;

5) We deplore the irresponsible reporting that twists the realities and complexities of the Muslim world in order to project only anti-American sentiment during this disturbing period when we are all attempting to move beyond the state of mourning for the national tragedy;

6) We warn against opportunists who will exploit the misery and hysteria of the public in order to promote a political agenda aimed at tarnishing the name of Islam and Muslims;

7) We should not diminish our resolve to be active in protecting the civil liberties of all Americans and struggling for justice both locally and globally;

8) We need to organize activities to help the victims medically, psychologically and in every other way we can.

American Muslims for Jerusalem Condemns the Terrorist Attacks

(Washington, DC 9/11/01) - Joining the Muslim community around the country, the Washington based American Muslims for Jerusalem (AMJ) is appalled and strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, and other parts of the country. AMJ sends out its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of these cowardly attacks.

As Muslims we utterly deplore these heinous and barbaric acts and hope for the quick apprehension and swift applications of justice. We also urge the media to exercise restraint, act responsibly when reporting, and not rush to judgment. Until the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice, all media reports should be accurate, restraint, and sensitive.

AMJ calls on Muslims nationwide to offer every assistance they can to help the victims of today’s terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. Muslims in local communities should take the following IMMEDIATE ACTIONS:

* Muslim medical professionals are asked to go to the scenes of the attacks to offer aid and comfort to the victims.
* Muslim relief agencies should contact their counterparts to offer support in the recovery efforts.
* Individual Muslims should donate blood by contacting the local office of the Red Cross. (Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.) They should also send donations to those relief agencies that are on the scene of the attacks.

ISNA CONDEMNS TERRORIST ATTACKS

(Plainfield, IN - 9/11/2001) - The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) joins Muslim Americans and all Americans in expressing its deep sorrow over the apparently deliberate air-crashes in New York and Washington, DC that have led to the loss of countless innocent lives.

ISNA joins Muslim organizations throughout North America in condemning theses apparent terrorist attacks and calls upon Muslim Americans to come forward with their skills and resources to help alleviate the sufferings of the affected people and their families.

ISNA condemns these apparently senseless acts of terrorism against innocent civilians, which will only be counterproductive to any agenda the perpetrators may have had in mind. No political cause could ever be assisted by such immoral acts.

We join with all Americans in calling for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrators, and call upon our justice system to maintain strict standards of justice and fairness in these trying times.

We also urge the media to exercise restraint, and to act responsibly when reporting on these terrorist attacks. Until the perpetrators are brought to justice, all media reports should be accurate, restrained and sensitive. Let us pray to God that He may Guide us all to keep firm in following our principles and offer relief to the victims of violence wherever they may be.

Azhar Usman, Comedian

Usman is a stand-up comedian and member of the popular “Allah Made Me Funny” comedy troupe. The group travels the U.S. grabbing laughs about the situations in which Muslims find themselves in America today, like being subject to “random” airport searches and suspicious stares on airplanes. Usman believes humor is a universal way to break down religious and cultural barriers. He is also a lawyer, columnist, and an on-air personality on MTV Desi.

“The Qur’an teaches human beings to ‘ ... stand up as witnesses for God,’ even if it be against themselves. Being a witness for God, to me, includes standing up against injustice, oppression, and tyranny—whatever the form, and whoever the perpetrators. Being a Muslim is not about adopting a tribal mentality that means defending the actions of all Muslims. On the contrary, the Qur’an’s command is clear: Condemn mischief and corruption on Earth, whether perpetrated by people who call themselves believers or otherwise. This applies with equal force to the condemnation of terrorists, as well as to those who engage in terroristic counter-terrorism. I am motivated by my desire to earn the good opinion and favor of God Almighty, not necessarily to win fellow Americans or Muslims as friends.” -Azhar Usman

Shahed Amanullah, Journalist

Amanullah has harnessed the power of the Internet to spread a positive view of Islam. A frequent Beliefnet contributor, Amanullah is one of the country’s foremost Muslim journalists. He is the editor of altmuslim.com, a Muslim news website, and founder of Halalfire Media, a network of Muslim-themed websites with more than five million annual visitors. Through his work Amanullah has tapped into a strong force of online activism.

“Islam stresses public order and the rule of law. Terrorism destroys this social order and decreases the tranquility of life that Islam emphasizes. During the life of the Prophet Muhammad, whenever there was a choice between conflict and social order, he always chose the path of least violence unless forced to do otherwise. The Qur’an has a strong ethical orientation to help people regardless of their religious affiliation and calls people to faith based on reason and spiritual intuition, not force. Terrorism is an imposition of force and fear to change the minds of people. Muslims must show non-Muslims the beauty of our religion, create peace between peoples, and promote justice and the rule of law. Terrorism runs counter to all these values, and therefore absolutely goes against Islam.” — Shahed Amanullah

Imam Abdul Feisal Rauf, Religious Leader

One of the most sought-after American Muslims speakers, Rauf is an imam in New York City, a participant in Beliefnet’s “Preachers and Teachers,” feature, and the chairman of the Cordoba Initiative, a multi-faith organization that seeks to improve relations between the Islamic world and the West. As the author of several books, including “What’s Right with Islam: A New Vision for Muslims and the West,” Rauf is on the frontlines of interfaith dialogue.

“The Holy Qur’an teaches us that “Whoever kills a human being ... it is as if he has killed all humankind; and if he saves a human life, it is as if he has saved the lives of all humankind (Qur’an 5:32).” Islam condemns the abuse of religion by fanatics whose purpose is to rouse hate and beget further violence. Nothing is as antithetical to all religion as when wanton violence is wreaked by extremists. Millions of Muslims live in peace with the world around them. They are examples of Islam’s true harmony and are fighting against terrorism through dialogue, knowledge, and outreach. And the Prophet of Islam serves as the ultimate example of compassion and love to Muslims. So to sink to violence against innocents serves no purpose in Islam.” —Imam Abdul Feisal Rauf

A simple search on Google turned up hundreds, maybe thousands of these, this is just small example.

They are out there so either you’re blind, not looking for them or disregard them because you’re more comfortable hating everyoe.

We are at war with militant jihadi islam. Anyone who believes we are war with all muslims, is either ignorant or a glutton for punishment.

As I said before, if you cannot recognize the enemy, how are you going to defeat him?

There are about 5 MILLION Muslims in America. A list of 75-100 who condemn their savagery means nothing.

I want to see PUBLIC DEMONSTRATIONS not some statement issued from the safety of an office somewhere.

Virtually every single item you use as PROOF of Muslims coming out against terrorism was from September of 2001. Even that scumbag Arafat made a big deal about condemning 9/11 and was shown giving blood, in some weird attempt to show sympathy. How about something from the ragheads dated from 2004 and on? Show me some demonstrations. I want to see NUMBERS of muzzies calling the savages what they truly are, murdering cowards who hide in mosques or behind children and the skirts of women.

You are nothing but an apologist for these cowardly bastards. You are also a phony to boot.
