Need help with an Alan Ginsburg quote.

I just left a thread that dealt with the "Boomer Left," and I was thinking about some of the older people who influenced (manipulated in many ways) the Boomer Left. One of these was the "beat poet" Alan Ginsburg.

I remember reading him quoted as saying something to the effect "We'll get you through your kids."

Can anybody provide me with the actual quote, and when/where he said it. Thanks.

He screamed “We’ll get you through your children!” at Norman Podhoretz. I don’t remember the circumstances, but Norman’s children didn’t go along with Mr. Ginsberg.

Since Allen Ginsberg was a practicing and well-practiced pedophile, I think the quote was probably more like, "We'll get your kids!"

There’s an interesting clip on YouTube of Jack Kerouac reading from “On the Road” on the old Steve Allen Show. Allen accompanies Kerouac on the piano, noodling some “cool” improv jazz licks.

I don't remember the Ginsberg quote, but I do remember this little ditty my Dad recited in honor of such poets:

I can't say where that quote is from, but I've often heard "Whoever controls the language controls the culture."

It's usually used in context with the way the left redefines words to make its agenda(s) more palatable to the public. A very good example is the word "choice." A more recent example of leftspeak redefinition is "redeployment."

As to your quote, my first wild guess would be Marshall McLuhan.
