It was embarrassing putting my flak jacket on backwards and sideways, but in the darkness of the Baghdad airport car park I couldnt see anything. Peterik, put the flak jacket on, the South African security contractor was saying politely, impatiently. You know the procedure if we are attacked.
I didnt. He explained. One of the chase vehicles would pull up beside us and someone would drag me out of the armoured car, away from the firing. If both drivers were unconsciousnice euphemismhe said I should try to run to the nearest army checkpoint. If the checkpoint was American, things might work out if they didnt shoot first. If it was Iraqi . . . he didnt elaborate.
Arriving in Baghdad has always been a little weird. Under Saddam Hussein it was like going into an orderly morgue; when he ran off after the U.S.-led invasion of March 2003 put an end to his Baathist party regime, the city became a chaotic mess. I lived in Iraq for almost two years, but after three years away I wasnt quite ready for just how deserted and worn down the place seemed in the early evening. It was as if some kind of mildew was slowly rotting away at the edges of things, breaking down the city into urban compost.

Interesting how the article never actually compares Bush to Saddam.

It sounds as if being Canadian requires a suspension of rationailty.
What a kooky site that is.
PS - Libs are traitors.
Hilariously bad!
Nay, my son is going to college and on one of the govt. books he bought for that class ACTUALLY has a MOVEON.org ad printed on one of the chapters with President Bush’s picture on it, used as an example of the Iraq war blah blah curriculum...! I was so shocked and saddened because I’ve taken a college govt. course and NEVER have I seen anything of this sort in my govt books. The liberal scums are driving this nation literally down the hill over night. At his point in America I’m beginning to realize that the AMERICA we once knew is no longer! Tomorrow is the Day of Atonement, please keep America in your prayers...:(
Cheer up. The past few years have just been the second childhood of the hippies. It’ll be over soon.
Odd that a Partisan PAC would be able to get an ad into a history book without some complimentary examples.
And the CPUSA financial ties to the so called antiwar movement need to be documented in any historical presentation of this “movement”. It is clear and it was there from day 1.
Keeping both America and Canada in my prayers this evening. Good Shabbos and G-d help us all.
I’d say we have this year’s BDS winner with this Photoshopped cover illustration, even with several months to go.
Remember, Canadians are what we in the USA would have become if we hadn’t told King George III to take a hike. Scary, no?
