Fred Thompson Issues Stern Statement on Iranian Leader Ahmadinejad

Fred Thompson has issued this stern statement regarding Iranian Leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, his upcoming visit to the United Nations, and what we must do regarding the threat Iran poses:

Dallas, TX - Senator Fred Thompson issued the following statement today from Dallas, Texas regarding Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's upcoming visit to the United States and further called upon the UN Security Council to impose economic sanctions on the terrorist state:

"Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of the world's premier terrorist state, is speaking before the United Nations next week. He has also asked to visit Ground Zero. If I were President of the United States none of this would have been an issue--I wouldn't have let him into the country in the first place.

"It's time for the world to finally send a stern message to Iran. Ahmadinejad has called for the destruction of Israel, is supporting terrorist groups throughout the Middle East, and is responsible for supplying weapons to extremists who are killing US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. And with Iran's ongoing pursuit of nuclear weapons and development of long-range missiles, that country is a threat not only to the region and our allies, but to the entire free world. It's time for the United Nations to take more serious action against this terror regime.

"The Security Council needs to begin placing comprehensive, multilateral sanctions on Iran's economy, to include banning foreign investment, stopping export credits to companies doing business there, and prohibiting any business dealings with Iran's Revolutionary Guard. Iranian banks should be denied access to international banking and financial institutions, and World Bank loans should be suspended. All arms sales to Iran need to be halted. And travel by Iranian officials should be stopped and their assets frozen. Cutting off Iranian access to refined gas imports will certainly get Tehran's attention and cause them to reconsider their priorities. If the UN can't reach agreement on these measures due to continued Russian, Chinese or others' intransigence, then we need to work directly with our allies and go around the UN roadblock.

"The international community has been negotiating with Iran for more than four years to no avail in seeking to halt the mullahs' nuclear program. I believe strongly in diplomacy, but it has its limits, especially when the other side is made up of extremists. If we don't get serious and act now--before they build atomic weapons--the stakes will be even higher, and our hand much weaker. The United States and its allies cannot afford to let that happen. As president, I certainly will not."

"The political fallout would be enormous around the world."

Yeah, I can just see all those friendly Muslim countries starting to hate us, and that would be a novel event. Back to reality, I think we should have enough balls to show the world we really don't live by what they might think.

Funny how the true colors of some of the Fred haters come out in things like this, isn’t it?

That’s what I was thinking. The UN is in Manhattan and JFK is miles away in Queens

You may have struck on a very interesting reason ( a Karl Rove plan) for Ahminajihad to be allowed to come to New York. The Dems will proably line up to fawn all over this A-hole, and lick his hand, just like they did with the Nazis prior to 1938, with the likes of Joseph ( Rum Runner) Kennedy and Charles ( Lindy Hop ) Linbergh, and others.

If the Dems do that, then watch the American nation retch, and spew bile all over donkey land.

Sounds like the only reason I can think of, outside of setting him up for a hit by .50 cal from a mile away, that that Homeland Security would let this POS in.

Maybe Dubyah will take him up to LL Bean in Freeport for a shopping spree, with a side trip to Disney World and Epcott Center ( Pirates of the Carribean is what he wants to see.)

I feel warm and fuzzy already ( SARC.) Patronize those Dems, sucker them in baby!

Lets get in a circle Ahmanutjob, OK , join hands now and sing:

Kum Ba hyeah Mah Lahd, Kumba hyeah!( Wacko Sarc.)

Puke, retch, barf, upchuck..

OTOH, maybe Ahmanutjob will wear a sewer side vest and blow himself and all the Dems fawning over him , to smitherines, nice thought, especially if Reid, Pelosi, Murtha, Schumer, and Chapateddy are all there at the same time.

“The prospect of Mr. Ahmadinejad visiting the city recalled the famous reaction of Theodore Roosevelt to the visit of a German anti-Semite to the city back in the days when Roosevelt was police commissioner. In his autobiography, published in 1913, Roosevelt wrote about how he assigned to the anti-Semite an all-Jewish security detail.

“The proper thing to do was to make him ridiculous,” Roosevelt wrote. “It was the most effective possible answer; and incidentally it was an object lesson to our people, whose greatest need is to learn that there must be no division by class hatred...”

I was referring to the countries that are supposedly our allies.

Who cares?

Let him arrive, then arrest him and try him for murder. Or if that is to showy, just send up one F-16 and shoot down his plane.

I am so sick of all this pussyfooting with notorious mass murderer tyrants... Is anyone left on earth actually serious about defending civilization?

Well I guess if he banded Amanutjob and it pissed the UN, then the only recourse the UN would have would be to PULL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY.

Best move FRED could make!

"I was referring to the countries that are supposedly our allies."

My answer would still be the same; we need not consult the "feelings" of our allies before doing the right thing.

There is much precedent for disallowing heads of state into the US and UN. Just two years ago the Bush State Dept. denied a visa for high ranking Minister from India, (Narendra Gujarat, Chief Minister of Gujarat), on the grounds that he had violated the religious rights of certain sects in India. Now, Ahmadinejad horribly oppresses the Kurds of his nation, and keeps the Christians and Jews living in fear. That alone is legal reason to keep this scum off US soil; but I'm absolutely certain that the State Department could think of several more if they wanted to.

The sad fact is that Ahmadinejad will come to America with the permission and blessings of President Bush, who is a man that passionately seeks approval from his enemies for some reason.

We’re about to sign on to that LOST/UNCLOS treaty. Maybe we should stipulate that the UN, now that it rules the sea, should meet on a ship.

He can deny landing rights to any government controlled or private airplane from the country in question. Backdoor way to prevent him from showing up in the first place.

“Yah know, Fred, it ain’t up to you. According to a treaty we signed when they planted the UN in New York we have to let him in.”

I would differ with you on that point. This terrorist setting foot on our soil could be a grave national security risk. He could have intentions to unleash sleeper cells or some similar plan. At that point it’s a military decision. I only hope Thompson means what he says.

Wasn’t it a while back that Castro spoke at the U.N.? I do remember some controversy about allowing him in, it seemed that we didn’t have to allow him a visa and could have kept him out. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

.....................

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/907125.stm

This article is from September of 2000. It refers to Castro Applying for a visa. Here is a quote from the article.

...UN spokesman, Fred Eckhard, said that as the UN's host country the United States was obliged to give Fidel Castro a visa. "The United States has signed the host country agreement saying that it will facilitate the entry into the United States of all those who need to come here to participate in official UN business. "There is a small caveat to that, that if there are overriding national security concerns, visas can be denied," Mr Eckhard said...

I think it would not be very hard to make a case for "overriding national security concerns" in this case if one had the guts to tell the truth and stand ground against the inevitable shrill whining that would ensue.
