Bush Says Democrats Afraid of Left-Wing Groups

WASHINGTON — At a White House news conference Thursday, President Bush took the opportunity to drop a political bomb on Democrats, saying they are more afraid of riling extreme wings of their party than of riling the U.S. military.

The president was responding to a question about an advertisement run last week by the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org, which suggested Multinational Forces in Iraq commander Gen. David Petraeus was falsifying information about the war, under a bold headline, "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?"

"I thought the ad was disgusting," Bush told reporters in the White House briefing room Thursday.

"I was disappointed that not more leaders in the Democrat party spoke out strongly against that kind of ad, and that leads me to come to this kind of conclusion: That most Democrats are afraid of irritating a left-wing group like MoveOn.org — are more afraid of irritating them — than they are of irritating the United States military. That was a sorry deal," the president said.

"And (it's) one thing to attack me. It's another thing to attack somebody like Gen. Petraeus," Bush said.

The remarks were the strongest about the ad from the White House since MoveOn placed the ad in The New York Times on the same day that Petraeus was to deliver his report on military progress in Iraq to Congress.

The ad struck a nerve among Republican leaders, who called on Democrats to denounce it and the group. Republican White House candidates also have been vocal on the issue, most notably Rudy Giuliani, who then asked The Times to grant him space in their pages to denounce the ad. To different degrees, Democrats have distanced themselves from the ad's message.

They're not afraid of them, they're IN BED with them. Their lack of condemnation over the ad can be logically construed as an endorsement of what was said.

Democrats, saying they are more afraid of riling extreme wings of their party than of riling the U.S. military.

Well, no crap! What else is news?
Gee, who is floating all of these bills to cut out of Iraq?
Pelosi? Ried? Feinstien? - They are the extreme and they aren’t the “wings”

Moveon is the propaganda mouthpiece for the RAT party. When will Pres Bush admit the truth of this? Recall the disgusting comments made by Dick Durbin and others in the RAT party about our military.

“To different degrees, Democrats have distanced themselves from the ad’s message.”

***

In my opinion, the Democrats haven’t distanced themselves enough. A strong condemnation would be better. But I won’t hold my breath.

Afraid of left wing groups? Do you mean to say they’re a bunch of SCARDYRATS?

Pelosi and Reid aren’t the wings of the party. They are the tail feathers.

If only the Dinocons could of one time stood WITH the President on something instead of spending the last 7 years doing nothing but stabbing him in the back.

"Thank you Mr President. Now, please go do more of this every day."

I'd be satisfied if he would just stop abetting and rewarding criminals who violate our border and just uphold his oath of office.

" ...saying they are more afraid of riling extreme wings of their party..."

This reporter could not even quote our President accurately, even with the exact quote stated in the body of the article.

MoveOn and George Sorryros are the heart, soul and bankroll of the Democrats. They know better than to cutoff the hand that feed them. President Bush is so right and he and all Republicans should seize every opportunity to remind the American people of this.

I would be grateful if Freepers stuck to the topic on a thread rather then try to hijack every thread onto their pet issues.

Democrats are in such a tizzy to have the war in Iraq be over before next election.

Because

A. They have no plan what to do and do not want a defeat on their heads.

B. If they do not pull out of Iraq, the Left-wing-Moonbat-wing-Truther-wing of the Democrat Party will vastly outweigh the Black-Homo-Lesbo-Illegal Alien-Abortion wing of the party.

MNJohnnie. I agree!

One issue people are going to help be the death of the conservative party.
