October's NH debates canceled, Thompson didn't know
CONCORD, N.H. --ABC News is reminding Republican presidential hopefuls that the October debate in New Hampshire isn't happening -- no matter how much Fred Thompson wants to come.
Thompson's campaign said yesterday it was looking forward to the October 14th debate in Manchester. But ABC sent a note today to all the Republicans, reminding them the debate was canceled weeks ago.

Wow. I don’t keep up with ABC’s schedules either.
In fact, I’ve intentionally avoided watching every single debate-and-pony-show in order to be a more productive human being.
I’d be happier if Fred boycotted all of them.
Well first you’d have to actually believe ABC and AP’s story.
Or better yet, burst in and make accusatory posts with ZERO merit.
Those aren’t debates.
Glad to see you are finally coming around.
At least now FRed doesn’t have to make an excuse for missing this one...
Spoken like a true serial Thompson basher. What’s the matter, your own candidate lose another poll?
As usual the AP leaves out an important fact-who was sponsoring the debate. Are they more Dem-leaning so that when the Dem's "party guidlines" disallowed a debate at that time the sponsor didn't want to give their party of non-choice a leg-up with a debate and headlines?
It would have also been nice if they included a quote from Thompson or his campaign in regards to participating in what is now a phantom debate. Was it some Thompson campaign small-time member that requested seats? How did the Thompson campaign goof? Written? Verbal?
One last thing-As a voter that is leaning Thompson, I would support him if he has more positions that I am in agreement with. I would never use a description such as "never wrong" but would be quite comfortable with "more right." So obviously due to the angle of this AP story this thread will be filled with anti-Fred remarks. Go ahead - make your day. It won't help your chosen candidate one bit.
LOL. Sadly, you are not too far off the mark.
I think some of his followers want to canonize him.....why, I have absolutely no idea.
I still have not gotten a clear response from FT supporters? What exactly has Fred done?
I posed this question on another thread and got a list of committees he has served on over the years.....not quite what I was looking for.
Disclaimer: I support Giulani for Pres......[ready to get flamed]
Too, too funny.
Fred, you, are more peculiar than what I had thought.
That photo op you had with Lady Thatcher is not going to help.
She probably does not remember you because of her memory problems. Do you remember her?
I’m puzzled about something..... do you just sit around here all day and night waiting to pounce with nasty comments every time Fred is mentioned? Or how are you notified so quickly? You must have some great method.
“was cancelled weeks ago.”
Hmmm, that might explain why Fred didn’t get the notice. Fred was not an official candidate “weeks ago” and might not have been on the mailing list. I wonder if Newt got a notice since he has also been “thinking about running”?
While I like Rudy on a lot of issues, I ABSOLUTELY will not vote for a gun-grabber. EVER.
For me, it’s not so much what he has done, than what he believes. I don’t think Fred is perfect by any stretch, but he has it where it counts. If given the choice between 1) a man with “leadership experience” and the wrong principles and 2) a man with the right principles and less leadership experience, I will go with 2) every time. You see, someone who stands steadfastly on the right principles will tend to make the right decisions when confronted with unforeseen circumstances, despite the political winds of the day. To me, that is leadership.
Fred believes as I do that the Fed has grown much too large and more decisions should be made at the state level. Not many are left who will carry that banner. Fred also shares my views on other issues such as the WOT, 2nd amendment, taxes, etc. The other candidates, including Rudy, do not share my views on most things. If any of them did (and were polling more than single digits), Fred probably would have never considered running in the first place.
I hope this helps you understand at least on FT supporter.
Reminds me of the line in “Stripes”.
“Son there ain’t no draft”
“There was one?!?”
Bingo!!! They're not debates. A real debate would have two participants and a moderator. There would be specific issues to be debated, and viewers would get an in-depth understanding of where the candidates stand on the important issues.
The "debates" we've been subjected to so far are nothing more than dog-and-pony shows, with serious candidates vying with a gaggle of no-chancers, trying to one-up each other with cute, 30-second sound bites.
Re: a man with leadership experience and the wrong principles
What are the “wrong principles” exactly?
His stance on guns? There is a 2nd Amendment in place and that isn’t changing anytime soon.
Giulani showed his leadership not just one or two days, but for months after the worst attack ever on US soil. He refused a $10,000,000 check because the giver said US policy was part of the reason we were attacked. How many people in Washington would have done the same?
In my mind, zero.
