Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt said GW Bush would like some sort of universal health care before the end of his term.
Leavitt stated that Bush will veto a Democratic plan that would add $35 billion in taxpayer subsidies to the Children's Health Insurance Program.... Leavitt also stated that Bush will urge Congress to search for a way to ensure coverage for all Americans.
"He'd like to see the larger debate begin," Leavitt said. "The very best opportunity we have may well be in the next 15 months."

"If a government is going to mandate that a business render services before compensation" The original problem is the government mandate.
A conservative doesn't solve a problem of too much government intervention with more government intervention.

Bushs SOTU proposal is the ONLY counter on the conservative side to the Democrat government control plans for universal health coverage. No it isn't...if you call "rule 306" a potential response.

Oh goody!! My in-laws just spent some time visiting friends in Canada. One of their Canadian friends has prostate cancer. The doctors are ready for him to receive radiation treatments, but need an ultrasound first to see which of two kinds he will get. The problem, the first available time he can get an ultrasound is 7 months from now. Hurry, if we really push for it, we can get the same type of health care they have!!! People up there are dying to get it!

To lower the cost of health care they will have to do something about the sue crazy lawyers. But since most of those in Congress are lawyers that’s not an option.

“The man is the biggest spending rino ever elected.”
Bush literally makes me sick. I defended him for almost 6 years. I am not against Bush for all the hate filled reasons the left is against Bush. However, it is my opinion that GW has spent more time trying to “get in good” with his enemies than he ever spent trying to reflect the values and wishes of of the people who got him elected.
Frankly, I’ll be thrilled to get him out of office. The ONLY comfort I have from Bush being president now is knowing the alternative could have been scary Kerry or Al the leftest pal......UGH~!

“The prez should make it official and switch parties.”
I agree, Bush has been a huge handicap in the war in Iraq. He has been giving the same lame speech from day 1. He never takes on the vile almost treasonous remarks and actions from the Democrats. Yet, Bush has thrown great men like Bolton and Rummy under the bus.
His last speech was horrible, and recycled. I used to think “at least Bush isn’t too far left” but, honestly I question his politics more and more every day.

Are there any Bush bots left? Has he finally disappointed every conservative that voted for him?

"This is Bushs' attempt to steal her thunder, and propose a scaled back version of what the WH may see as an eventual "sure thing"....one way or another." Yep, Bush's centrist motto, "if you can't beat'em, join'em".
