We’ve got Texas peaches...that are so good. In fact, my brother has a peach tree in his backyard. Each year, he always has a nice crop of peaches. Yum...

What a neat photo of the day! That young man will treasure it always.

I also enjoyed the photo of the author of the Kite Runner. I loved the book and look forward to reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author which is about two Afghani women.

As for O.J., he actually is a convicted murdered as he was found quilty in the Civil Trial. That is why the press can get away with calling him a killer.

And speaking of books, did you know Lynne Cheney has a new book coming out next month.Blue Skies, No Fences: A Memoir of Childhood and Family

Thanks for the Dose.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is an excellent book. I’m looking forward to The Kite Runner movie too.

It is still rather warm here and I am adding insulation and sealing cracks as it could suddenly turn cold. There are lots of tourists still here but they will head south at the first chilly wind. I expect to be ready for cold weather by the end of the week.

Peaches are wonderful in pie. They have always been my #1 favorite. These days, tho, I just slice them, nuke them, eat them, with no crust, no fuss.

I was BAD last night and dropped a small dollop of vanilla ice cream in the center. :)

Does Rex ACT normal now? My sweet EmmaRose is no longer with us. She had a bad heart, and got Congestive Heart Failure. ‘nuff said. I still can’t talk about it.

Then, maybe he's taking over for her? Hubby mentioned Bette in this whole thing, too. Hmm...I wonder if that's the case. Oh, well, Barry's still being stupid. ...And I thought he was SUCH a good teacher to all those kids on American Idol. Why do they have to open their political mouths and ruin everything? sheesh

24 is ruined now too. What's this world coming to? Don't they realize THEY are the very people the bad guys hate? They are the ones with the drugs, the overly material and unusual lifestyles? Idiots.

Oh, SCB, I'm so sorry for your huge loss. I still tear up when I think of poor Oliver. Rex is looking JUST like Rocky. Stocky and happy. I just want him to be declared officially okay, so we can start giving him more protein. I don't think his brain is as fully developed as Rocky's. He's has so many fuel disadvantages, poor little guy. The liver problems made us HAVE to give him really low levels of protein. Ah...dogs NEED protein. I can't wait till they call today. Thanks so much for asking. Rex looks soooo fine.

Dear Lord, may this day be the beginning of a whole new phase for everyone. Happiness, sunshine, prosperity, and love. The last six months or so have been a bear. I want to declare your "testing" period of finding out who the men are from the boys, officially over Lord. Thank you! Humble little 'ol me. (And this new phase is for everyone, too, right???) ;-)

In an earlier statement to the news Web site TMZ.com, which broke the news, Manilow said Hasselbeck was “dangerous” and “offensive.”

But a source close to “The View” said “we canceled him,” because producers refused to comply with Manilow’s “completely disrespectful” demands.

Casino officials are counting on Manilow "to see the Hilton theater sparkle again,"

Guess they'll have to settle for a DIM glow, instead.

LOL ... for the reported $60M he’ll be paid for the year,
that HAS to be their wish.

Found this interesting tidbit

Don Rumsfeld and Scooter Libby, enjoying a late lunch and the brisk start-of-fall weather together on the terrace at Morton’s on Connecticut Avenue yesterday. Sorry, couldn’t hear what they were talking about.

~~~~
Wonder if Rumsfeld may be considering
him for his new foundation.
