Sure, it was just an acceptance speech at some silly awards ceremony. However, when Hollywoodans say ridiculous things on television that media applaud along with the Hollywoodans in attendance, someone's got to point out the inanity.
As such, when Sally Field said at Sunday's Emmy awards ceremony as reported by the MRC's Tim Graham, "And, let's face it, if the mothers ruled the war, there would be no (expletive) wars in the first place," I can't sit idly by without contesting such nonsense.
After all, it appears Field has never heard of some famous female leaders who brought their nation's to war:

The first war was started when some cavewoman said “Hey, you big hairy Neanderthal, my boyfriend says he can take on your whole p*ssy tribe!”
Obviously...she’s become a has been and wanted to let her kind know she stands with them and all their ignorance. Success IMHO is NOT the amount in one’s bank account. As far as a mother is concerned...all one has to look at are her kids and the kind of people they’ve turned out to be. That’s very telling.
women fight over things as little and silly as wearing the same dress or who’s hair looks best. I’m sure that there’d be a heck of a whole lot of senseless wars if things were the way Sally wishes.
No, just shut up Sally. And for all stupid, opinionated singers, just shut up.
Just take your Boniva and shut the hell up Sally, and we really DON’T like you.
How much do you think old Sally would sacrifice to keep the freedoms that America offers her? Certainly, she would not risk her life, as did the hundreds of thousands of non-mothers who lost their lives creating and defending this country. Would keeping her freedom be worth enduring one broken fingernail? Would she be willing to do without a mirror for an entire day?
Imagine someone who makes millions memorizing lines can’t remember her braindead rant. Hilarious.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Wars my ass. In the last thirty years, “moms” have killed over forty million of their own children.
I always thought that would be a good name for an ED medicine instead. Anyway, the Flying Nut still thinks she's Norma Rae, and is living in a dreamworld.
After hearing about this, I am going to let my bones curl, wither and break.
Boneheadniva, not good for you.
Brainless idiot. Even if someone is against war, the statement is just plain stupid.
Reminds me of an old saying I heard all my life. “Wish in one hand and **** in the other, and see which one gets full fastest.”
Wasn’t she the one who gave birth to Forrest Gump? Stupid is as stupid does.
It was Hitlery that urged her husband to bomb the Serbs, NOW!!! as she watched pmsnbc parade ‘refugees’, which later turned out to be choreographed and ‘looped’ for tv!
Hey Sally, ever heard of Golda Meir and Margaret Thatcher?
Sally doesn't know much about recent history, it seems.
What’d one expect...she’s an actress w/out much of an education...kinda like Barbra S...who can’t spell...oppps forgot she never graduated from High School...these pigs need to just shut up...
Truth of the matter is that women incite far more violence than they ever actually do. They like surrogate violence, particularly when it is done in their “honor”.
...But it certainly does make you wonder, though. Whenever some over the hill, nearly washed up celebrity wants to promote some new project or cause they usually wind up putting their foot in their big mouths with inanities about the War On Terror, the Military or President Bush.
...And it sadly appears Ms. Field is no exception. She has now joined the long-growing ranks of Irrelevant Celebs, which recently inducted Linda Ronstadt and Barry Manilow.
The Clinton Chronicles is about Bill AND Hilary. They are a PAIR of thugs and crooks. We don’t want her ruling the world or the US.
