Jim McGreevey yesterday accused his soon-to-be-ex wife of "greedily" grabbing at the perks of being New Jersey's First Lady - and refusing to give them back.
In legal papers packed with snide and catty comments, the openly gay McGreevey told estranged wife Dina Matos McGreevey she can expect to get nothing from him.
Matos McGreevey had asked him to pony up $4,000 a month in alimony to help her live a lavish lifestyle like his.
"Her jealousy and contempt are almost out of control," he said.
"She greedily took the perquisites that my job offered her. ... Not only does she view [the governor's mansion] Drumthwackett as an entitlement, but she believes that she must be kept in that kind of lifestyle."
McGreevey resigned as governor in 2004 after announcing he was gay.
McGreevey's legal team said New Jersey law requires alimony payments only if the marriage lasted more than 10 years - and the McGreevey's is only three years old.
"As such, she is not entitled to alimony of any kind," said his lawyer Matthew Piermatti in the papers filed in Union Superior Court.
McGreevey, who pays $1,129 in child support, said his wife's complaint described his lavish lifestyle, concentrating on the 17-room mansion he lives in with his boyfriend.
"It does not belong to me," he said. "I have no lease and stay there only at the pleasure of its owner. ... I own no home."
And he lists his average income as $154,000 - a fraction of the $428,000 his wife claims he made last year and which, he says, included a one-time $250,000 payment for his book.
The pair's lawyers are due back in court next week.
Yes, that one. A mess from top to bottom.

Jim, I apologize for that one. I am weak.
Given that he threatened her physical health with his secret homosexual affairs, I think she is entitled to everything he owns and then some.
I think she should go for all she can get!
He’s gonna make a fabulous Episcopal priest!
Do we know this? (that she knew he was gay and married him for the ‘perks?’
That’s a serious question; I never heard that.
My thoughts exactly.
Basically covers the rent/mortgage, the child’s clothing, food, transportation, school, insurance, and medical expenses and allows saving a fair amount each month towards her college education. Mom is still going to work fulltime for them to have a truly middle to upper middle class life style (which is not an unreasonable expectation for the wife and child of a former state governor).
If you say that $48,000 per year is a lavish lifestyle again, I will be seriously annoyed. It is not.
Is there a way they could both lose. Say, order McGreevy to pay $4,000 a month to Christian-Sexual-Identity-Change ministries in her name?
Homos are so tight
IMHO, if it was known what was in the documents Burglar stuffed down his pants, Hillary wouldn’t be running for POTUS right now...
I don’t trust ‘multiple sources’ any more than I trust ‘unnamed sources’ or ‘reliable sources.’
That article does not prove to me that she knew.
So ..she should still go for all she can get...he is a jerk gay or not...fooling around while his wife is in the hospital having his child!
What no chance for venereal disease or a crap stained kiss after one of his rimming encounters.
Maybe you would like to inform us what you think of homosexuals and lesbians rather than hearing your observations criticizing other poster's motives and viewpoints. Here is my view:
McGreevey is a scum through and through. He is morally bankrupt for being a homosexual and cheating on his wife. She didn't cheat on him, by the way. He hired onto the state payroll another homosexual, who wasn't a US citizen, and put him into a sensitive security role so he could have a sexual relationship with him. Now McGreevey doesn't want to pay reasonable child support and alimony based on his income, so he attacks his ex-wife charging her with "greed," etc.
Just what is your problem?
McGreevey makes Craig sound like a choirboy.
