FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. After two previous runs for U.S. president, former Reagan diplomat Alan Keyes has announced he's again seeking the White House in the 2008 election, and he'll take part in Monday night's Republican presidential debate here.
Keyes told syndicated radio host Janet Parshall he's "unmoved" by the lack of moral courage shown by the other candidates, among whom he sees no standout who articulates the "key kernel of truth that must, with courage, be presented to our people."
He added, "The one thing I've always been called to do is to raise the standard ... of our allegiance to God and His authority that has been the foundation stone of our nation's life" and he decried the lack of "forthright, clear, and clarion declaration" from the current crop of presidential contenders.
As a result, Keyes said, "We're putting together an effort that's not going to be like anything before, because it's going to be entirely based on citizen action. We're going to be challenging people to take a pledge for America's revival," and elevate them from spectators in the political arena to participants.

Didn’t Keyes actually get MORE votes in his short fill-in run than Topinka did running for Governor?

I would tend to hold the same sentiments. The more I see, it looks like the really only two best choices are Duncan or Fred at this point.

Alan Keyes. Former Ambassador to the United Nations. Declarationist candidate. Candidate for President in 1996 and 2000
No, he was not Ambassador to the United Nations. He was ambassador to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, not as ambassador to the U.N. as a whole or to any individual nation.
He has run for lots more than POTUS and every race his margin of loss GROWS.
Alan Keyes is not running for President, he is running for campaign donations just like he has in the past.
He is not the slightest bit embarrassed about the fact that he pays himself a salary out of campaign donations.
Think about that before you send him money.

Well, this ought to be interesting. Ill be watching the Values Voters Debate.
It will be interesting but while you are watching the value voters debate you will not be watching the next President of the United States.

I like Alan Keyes but as I have said before; I believe a lot of these people just run for office so they can travel around the country for free! Although didn’t Keyes wind up owing a bunch of money from his last campaign???
Like others have said, if he can’t even win a seat in congress; what makes him think he can be the GOP candidate for POTUS.

If I was running the debates I’d only invite the top contenders. Honestly at this point I’d only have Thompson, Guiliani and Romney on and make it a full 2 hour debate. 3 minute answers, with rebuttles.
But since the debates are privately organized each host organization can decide its own criteria, or frankly which candidates it wants to invite and which it doesn’t.

I wrote in Mickey Mouse instead of voting for the ego-maniac for Senate in 2004.
I hope he is excluded and ignored from all GOP presidential events.
