Rudy takes off gloves: slams Hillary in New York Times ad.

Marrying a political attack with a fundraising gambit, Rudy has fashioned his own ad for the New York Times. He blasted it out to supporters this afternoon as part of a money solicitation and has put a portion of it on his website just above a contribution form.

The GOP hasn’t moved to the “center”, it’s moved to the left. They want to be the permanent minority.

What?! Where are the rest of our candidates fighting on behalf of our troops? Great ad!

Well, I thought you asked me the question. And I really thought you wanted an answer to the question from me. Guess I was wrong. It looks more like you were baiting me. Well, in case anyone else is reading this thread, here’s a different response.

The previous answer is not from his website, some is what I have written, some is collected from others. I’ve assembled some files to some frequently asked questions. To save time in case I forget something.

To be more brief as suits you perhaps, and not in the order of importance:
1. Prosecutor
2. Federalism principles
3. Pro life voting record
4. Corruption investigations
a. Marie Ragghianti and TN governor
b. Cpl. Lance Fielder
c. Watergate investigation
d. Clinton campaign corruption
5. Hard work ethic, working multiple jobs most of his life
6. Work on John Roberts confirmation
7. Lives what he believes in [term limits and many other things]
8. Citizen legislator [went back to the private sector]
9. Raised fine children
10. Writing skills [book, commentaries etc]
11. Communication skills, spoken [connects with people]
12. Advising Condi Rice on national security issues
13. Work on oversight of government mismanagement
14. Belief in and doing something about limited government [ideas, committee work]
15. National security issues [in committee work]
16. Kept promises to voters of his state
17. Courteousness in speaking with others, taking questions and giving careful answers, not rash in answering, not saying what people want to hear
18. Works through the media and around the media [use of many venues to get the message across]
19. Knowledgeable about a broad range of issues
20. Focus on sovereignty, border security, enforcing the law
21. Focus on responsibility w. social security and entitlements
22. Focus on national security as a federal function
23. Support of the second amendment

I really don’t have time to rank them in order of importance. I also don’t have any more time to type although there is more to say. A lot is I like the things he talks about. I have wished for years that someone would address these things. The substance of what he says, and the way he deals with people.

Nuff said. I wasn’t trying to impress the average voter, and I really wasn’t even trying to impress you. You asked a question and I answered it twice in different ways. I like him and I really want to vote for him. The more time goes on, the more clear it is. No one else even comes close.

Well, I disagree only slightly. I think they have moved to the center. That was part of Karl Rove’s master plan of ensuring a permanent and lasting GOP majority...be as many things to as many people.

Thus the runaway spending, Medicare Part D biggest expansion in entitelements since the Great Society and amnesty to capture the Latino vote.

Okay, Rabid... since it may never come up as I believe Fred will get the GOP nomination, we will make it real simple like a scotch neat:

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Hillary, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing Her Ankleship?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Obama, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing JeFingK Lite?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Bill Richardson, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing Clinton Lite?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Breck Boy, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing Liz's Faggy Hubby?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Joe Biden, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing a follicle-challenged plagiarist?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Chris Dodd, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing the non-Kennedy half of a waitress sandwich?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Dennis Kucinich, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing the demented elf?

If you have the choice of voting for Rudy or Algore, do you hold you nose and vote for Rudy, or do you not vote and take the chance of helping electing the Whale?

Could Rudy possibly be worse... than any of these?

BTW 'ilk' means type or kind...

Can’t argue with much of that. I haven’t read much political history, but if JFK and Truman were essentially conservatives back then (I agree), what were Eisenhower and Nixon like politically? Abortion, gun rights, and gays weren’t big topics.

As for the parties moving left - I think the vocal minority have moved the Democrats way left, but instead of resisting, it seems to me the current Republican Party leadership went along. The message I’m seeing to the ones left behind is to follow the Party, regardless of the platform, or lose your voice altogether.

I understand that. I thought that poster was baiting me, I didn’t want it to go unanswered in case others read the thread. Some freepers are utter “boobs” [as that poster referred to senators], and I wondered what kind he/she is.

You committed two grave sins today. You put cash in the pockets of both the New York Times and Starbucks.

Next time, buy your coffee elsewhere and if you must read The Slimes, do it on the internet so they won’t get one cent.

Nixon was a Big Gubmint liberal. You can thank him for the EPA, OSHA and about 11 other useless Gubmint agencies that exist to this day.

I was 5 when he was President. Thank God for history books. Never thought I’d say that.

“I understand that. I thought that poster was baiting me,”

You were being baited by him and I didn’t need to comment, but I have been on a lot of Romney threads and my eyes start twitching when they post their campaign press releases and feel good, positive thinking stuff.

I was kind of pulling your leg a little too in a friendly way, since I agreed with you.

"Okay, Rabid... since it may never come up as I believe Fred will get the GOP nomination, we will make it real simple like a scotch neat:"

I truly and completely hope your belief becomes reality.

Between Rudy and any democrat on the list (I lol'd at the demented elf), I would vote for neither candidate.

I would likely write-in someone or leave it blank. And I would not b***h about the result. I'd be calling my guys in Congress up to fight each and every piece of liberal legislation that floats through, in the hope it doesn't make to the President's desk, whomever that would be.

As much as it chagrins me to say it - the abortion issue is what makes it an absolute dealbreaker (on religious grounds) for me on Giuliani. The other issues make it easier to dislike the man's candidacy, but I cannot, in good conscience, vote for someone with a pro-choice history and positions, even if the alternative is worse.

I have a little (if misplaced) faith in Republican congressmen to at least put up a fight in Hillary is elected. If Giuliani is elected, I don't think they fight.

Welcome to FreeRepublic. (member since 9/9/07)

I do not support Rudy, because of his positions on the 2nd Amendment, abortion, the definition of "strict constructionist judges" and several other issues.

That being said, I am pleased with his frontal assault on Hillary and the agenda of the liberal leftists who have seized control of the Democrat Party.

You're either with us or against us, and visiting Syria, Iran and other terrorist states demonstrates conclusively that you are not with us! Rush said it today, and we FReepers need to repeat this as often as we can, to as many people as we can that, during the questioning of General Petreus, the Democrats NEVER ONCE asked General Petreus what they could do to help support him and his officers, and what could they do to support the troops to succeed in their mission to defeat Al-Queda!

Every Dem that I watched that questioned General Petreus spent the vast majority of their time making speeches questioning both the General's and the President's statements regarding the situation on the ground.

It is not possible for the Dems to insist that they support the troops while, at the same time insulting their leader and implying that he and his report have been manipulated by President Bush.

I don't like his history with his wife and kids. I don't like that he made millions speaking about 9/11 as if he was some kind of hero. I don't like his stands on abortion, gun control and some other things and I certainly don't like this very very strange behavior. Rudy is a weirdo.

But if it ends up being between Rudy and Hillary I won't think twice about voting for him.

A situation similar to this occurred in October of 2001, when Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, a CAIR financier, offered New York City a check for $10 million dollars to go towards relief efforts, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. The check was rejected by the former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, on the grounds that the money was attached to a political statement made by Bin Talal, concerning America’s relationship to the Mid East.

While visiting the wreckage, Bin Talal called the attacks “a tremendous crime.” He added, “We are here to tell America and to tell New York that Saudi Arabia is with the United States wholeheartedly.” However, in a written statement handed out by his publicist, the Prince had another message for America. He stated, “At times like this one, we must address some of the issues that led to such a criminal attack. I believe the government of the United States of America should re-examine its policies in the Middle East and adopt a more balanced stance toward the Palestinian cause.”

Mayor Giuliani responded by stating, “There is no moral equivalent for this attack. The people who did it lost any right to ask for justification when they slaughtered 5,000, 6,000 innocent people. Not only are those statements wrong, they’re part of the problem.” He said the statements were “highly irresponsible and very, very dangerous.”

A good start. But just that, a start.

Most of us are giddy simply because someone in the Republican Party has actually challenged their actions. Good enough. But I want to see more of it, by other Republicans, and harder hitting.

It takes more than one swing to be called fighting back.

Soccermom is there trashing FreeRepublic as a “rightwing version of KOS, and not in a good way”. She’s pitching a bitch about being banned for “defending Rudy”.

**************

I was reading that thread as it was happening. I'm not surprised she was banned, as it was my impression she was openly challenging Jim Robinson. Bad form. Posting about it on another forum? Even worse.
