I gotta take my butt out here and get another job," he said.

I like this man - wish I had a business that could use him!

The owner, listed in corporate records as Sathaporn Yosagrai of Fort Lauderdale, could not be reached for comment despite two calls to the restaurant and one to his home.

A former electrician, Canales was convicted of robbery in 2004 and attempted cocaine possession in 2006, Florida criminal records show. He served prison time and has been working to stay on a straight path ever since.

Sathaporn Yosagrai? Common spelling.

I don’t know if there could even be a way the boss could make himself look more foolish.

This story needs to be made public in this area, and people must stop eating there.

I guess ol’ Sathaporn Yosagraiof didn’t think that thru very carefully, ay. He just earned his “Thai 84” even more attention by firing a hero.

There’s one place NOT to eat at when in Ft Lauterdale!

Unfortunately, there is a trend here, spurred no doubt by lawsuit prospects:

Employee fired after stopping alleged thief

Home Depot Fires Men Who Stopped Thieves

It's a sad state of affairs in this country when people can get fired for stopping thieves while on the clock.

I agree. This publicity may influence someone who otherwise would not hire a worker with a criminal record.

Sad doesn’t begin to describe it.

Utterly pathetic is more fitting.

“The owner got belligerent” about all the attention his scuffle with the carjacker generated, Canales said.

Probably some illegal activity going on and the owner does not want any attention.

The good news is that this guy is not going to have any trouble finding another job. He's not even going to have to post on Monster.

Juan would have been better off trolling the bathrooms in the Ft. Lauderdale parks.

This guy should get a lawyer and go after Mr. Southporn. With a bit of luck he could be the new owner of the shop.

Either that, or he was po’d at the guy even before the incident. I can’t see how this incident would prompt him to fire him.
