DEMOCRATS SHOULD CONDEMN MOVEON (FORMER NYC DEM MAYOR ED KOCH)
The New York Post ^ | September 13, 2007 | Ed Koch

Posted on 09/14/2007 2:04:09 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

DAVID Petraeus is a highly decorated four-star general. He has been designated by the commander-in- chief to lead the young men and women who comprise the great U.S. force of 160,000 soldiers and Marines serving on the battlefields of Iraq, at great danger to themselves and to the officers who lead them.

Most soldiers, in pointing out their military honors, will cite the Combat Infantry Badge - which the general wears, as he does those medals awarded to him for personal bravery in combat.

Gen. Petraeus has sworn, as do all our military officers, to defend the Constitution of the United States and to carry out the orders given to him by the president - who, under that Constitution, is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. He is trying to lead our troops to victory.

The Congress asked the general to testify before both Houses and to provide his assessment of the situation on the ground in Iraq. This he has done.

There are people in our country who have different views on what U.S. policy toward Iraq should be. MoveOn.org, a radical group of opponents of the Iraq war, took a full-page ad in The New York Times of Sept. 10, the day he was to testify before the House of Representatives. Under his photo, a banner headline stated, in a play on words, "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?"

It is vile on the part of MoveOn to charge the general with betrayal of our country, even before he testified.

The Republican candidates for president have denounced MoveOn for its unfair attack on Gen. Petraeus. Most of the Democratic presidential candidates declined to do so when asked.

You sure?

I don’t link to them, because of the cookie cooties and such. But several times, over the last few years, I’ve looked at the talking points listed on both the CPUSA and DNC sites and seen nearly zero degree of separation.

This is one of those surprise situations no one predicted which could be very helpful—and all it is is the democrats exposing their REAL feelings, something you’d think a party would be trying to do.

I... I think the world might be coming to an end. It’s gotta be a sign of the apocalypse that I am agreeing with Ed Koch an awful lot these days!

This would make the perfect question for the national (GOP vs. Dem) debate. Someone should flash the “Betray Us” ad and ask each candidate if they care to defend or refute it. It would be a great “deer in the headlights” moment for Hillary (who I am sure will be the nominee). Out of all the journalists who could ask this question, the task would fall to Brit Hume—he is the only one with the cohones to do so.

Why would Democrats condemn themselves?

It doesn’t take any cohones at all, just lack of toadying for the left wing democrats. Most “reporters” are just democrats.

Ed Koch has had 100’s of opportunities to leave the Democrat Party because of his objections to most everything they do. I am tired of reading all his op-eds condeming the Rats. He is part and parcel of ‘The Cult’ and he will never change. Koch, Novak, Combs and Beckel are some of the most intellectually dishonest guys I know. Nothing the Dims can do to ever change their voter registration.

Arab leaders and media outlets have long been addicted to comparing Israel to the Nazi regime, while at the same time demeaning the extent of the Holocaust. This obsession with defaming and antagonizing the Jewish people and state was on full display in recent months and reached a crescendo – or rather nadir – the day before Pope John Paul II visited the Temple Mount during his Holy Land pilgrimage. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, just hours before hosting the Pope, gave a series of press interviews, first telling the AP: "The figure of 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust is exaggerated and is used by the Israelis to gain international support… It's not my problem. Muslims didn't do anything on this issue. It's the doing of Hitler who hated the Jews," asserted the acid-tongued Mufti – a figure appointed by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. "Six million? It was a lot less," Sabri repeated for an Italian newspaper. "It's not my fault if Hitler hated the Jews. Anyway, they hate them just about everywhere." The Mufti finished the day with Reuters, charging, "We denounce all massacres, but I don't see why a certain massacre should be used for political gain and blackmail." However, as a matter of record, there was a well-documented, thriving relationship between the Arab/Muslim world and Nazi Germany, with perhaps the most significant figure linking Hitler to the Middle East being none other Sabri's very own predecessor, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin el-Husseini. Here is a brief review of that dark, overlooked chapter in history.

The Connection

Regrettably, Ed Koch’s anti-terror/anti-moonbat attitude can’t quite offset his support for Hillary Clinton’s attempt to become the first female President of the United States.

Money quote: "It takes more than intelligence to be a good or great president. It takes integrity and courage, as well."

The Democrats may have the support of 50+% of the country but that base is split between those who want us to win in Iraq and the loonies like Moron.org who will accept nothing less than total surrender. The left continually splits the Republican base by siphoning off losers like Collins, Snowe, Hagel and Specter. The Republicans need to be just as pointed in their approach. Make every candidate take a stand for or against that ad. Get it recorded. Do not allow them to weasel out of it.

No one has come out and said the reason for the lack of condemnation of the ad by Democraps.

The ONLY reason is that they 100% TOTALLY AGREE with the ad-—this aint rocket science folks. That is the ONLY REASON....

Ed Koch is a liberal jerk, but there are times when he has moments of clarity.
