Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) said Thursday that he is asking The New York Times for the same heavily discounted rate they gave MoveOn.org for his campaign to run an ad in Fridays paper. Giuliani, calling MoveOn.orgs controversial General Betray Us ad abominable, said his campaign is asking the paper for a comparable rate for an ad to run following President Bushs speech on Iraq.
The former mayor said his ad will obviously take the opposite view from MoveOn.org, which argued in its ad that Gen. David Petraeus is cooking the books on Iraq and cherry-picking facts that support his recommendation to keep a large number of troops in Iraq for some time.
Giuliani continued to include Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in his criticisms for her comments that it would take a willing suspension of disbelief to accept at face value Petraeuss report on the situation in Iraq. Giuliani interpreted Clintons remarks at a hearing earlier this week as questioning the generals integrity.
We think that her attack on Gen. Petraeus was a follow-up to the MoveOn.org/Times attack, Giuliani told reporters in Atlanta.
Macy’s, being a frequent advertiser, gets a discount already. Frequent advertisers do not pay rate card rate.
Rudy attacks Democrats every chance he gets. That’s a good thing.
A good thing, indeed. Refreshing.
Yes, Rudy is a ruthless SOB I think, and I like it!
Say what you will about Rudy, but the guy isn’t afraid to take on anyone.
...very likely, leave them alone..for now.
Once, He's President....(hopefully) he'll have an earnest "Fireside Chat" w/ the American Citizen....(and dismantle whole programs)
reason: "where does it say" (in the US Constitution) , peter must rob paul...and paul must agree."...to what end, just to buy votes.
Well I admire your faith. I don’t expect the public will be any more receptive to Grandpa Fred telling us we have to “live without” any more than they liked Carter in his sweaters telling us to turn down the thermostat.
Spunk is one thing he doesn’t lack, evidenced by his prosecution of mobsters, his cleanup of NYC streets, his vow to arrest Arafat if he ever dared set foot on Manhattan Island, and his prompt return of a Saudi prince’s sizable post-911 donation to recovery efforts.
Too bad he’s such a social liberal.
he's a doofus
no, they allow him to attack them because ulitimately he isnt much different.
Rudy would be an AWSOME Attorney General. I’d love to see him go after the fake non-profits (lib foundations, Move On, et al), the vote fraud industry, straw man political donations that actually come from countries such as China, bribes from OPECKERS to greenies and pols to oppose domestic drilling, and.....If we put all the corrupt dim pols and traitors in jail we’re gonna need a lot more jail cells.
I'm a Fred Thompson supporter but you're wrong, friend.
Democrats despise Rudolph Giuliani.
“Moveon is a tax exempt organization, so the only way to ding the Dems is to get the NYT in a campaign donation scandal.”
Sounds good to me, but doubt it will happen!
All right Rudy!!
LLS
Fred also did a nice job of attacking this thing but Rudy was better. Hot Air has his comments on audio.
“I think the IRS should look into considering the reduced rate as a political contribution to the DNC.”
And if the don’t, then the NYT should be sued in Federal court to press the issue.
The only newspaper that is still of any influence is the Wall Street Journal. The Old Gay Lady is on life support. This isn't 1960 anymore, when the Times was "the paper of record."
Of course he can afford the full-boat ad rates. That’s not the point, which is to point out the Slimes’ hypocrisy, bias and full-out partisanship.
