Members of the Senate intelligence committee have requested the withdrawal of the Bush administration's choice for CIA general counsel, acknowledging that John Rizzo's nomination has stalled because of concerns about his views on the treatment of terrorism suspects.
The decision followed a private meeting this week in which committee leaders concluded that the troubled nomination could not overcome opposition among Democratic members. It comes less than a month after a key member, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), announced his intention to block the nomination indefinitely.
Rizzo, a career CIA lawyer, has drawn fire from Democrats and human rights groups because of his support for Bush administration legal doctrines permitting "enhanced interrogation" of terrorism detainees in CIA custody.

The Demaogogues have taken continual cheap shots for years at interrogation programs, rendition of terrorist prisoners, Guantanamo, etc. Yet they never ever give a serious analysis of what intel would be lost under their preferred policies and what great risks Amercans (and innocent people all over the world) would face by the weakening of counter-terrorism. It’s easy to take the cheap shots without responsibility, but hardly anyone ever asks what would have happened without the estimated 70% of our post-9/11 intel that has come from prisoner interrogations.

There’s nothing in this MSM article to substantiate the peculiar claim that KSM held out (during waterboarding) for a lengthy 2 minutes only or mainly because of the presence of a female CIA officer (but anyway, what does it matter as long as he talked):

Still, if we have such a simple non-lethal technique that causes no physical damage and induces virtually all terrorist prisoners to talk within between 15 seconds and 2 minutes, then it is INSANE not to make good use of it! As for the claim that false info is provided, there are many ways to cross-check info with other sources and even within the interrogations of one prisoner there are ways to keep coming back to re-check info at different times. Only the absolutely most skilled deceiver will be able to defeat a sustained interrogation program over many months and years.
Not good. Politics before country will get us all killed.
