Reminiscent of the assassination of the Afghan resistance leader on 9/11/01.

And we all know what happened after that. Could this be a signal for a larger attack, do you think? Remember, that third video just came out yesterday too. Not that it means anything, though.

Read this from the article in the Wash Post:

An associate, Sheik Jubeir Rashid, said members of the council expected attempts on Abu Risha’s life, but vowed “it will not deter us.”

“It is a major blow to the council, but we are determined to strike back and continue our work,” Rashid said, according to the Associated Press.

The tribes may indeed go after AQ fiercly because of this...but you just know the DEMS and the MSM will use this as “proof” that what they’ve been saying for weeks is true. That Iraq is lost. Just watch.

Emotions in the Arab world quickly materialize into actions. The death of this man will arouse the emotions of the Sunni Arabs in Iraq to very high level which will be quickly expressed in an unprecented campaign of extermination against Al Qaeda terrorists and their allies.

I wonder if this would have happened if the Petraeus report had not been broadcast to the entire world.

Al Qaeda terrorists have been attempting to kill Al Sattar for many months, the Petraeus report has absolutely nothing to to do with it.

That was a couple days before WTC911. Watch the next couple days. Could be the 15 Sept date mentioned in the German terror arrests.

My thoughts too. They’re just a bunch of traitorous, treasonous, cowards.

three al-Qaida fighters were killed and 80 others were arrested

These rules of engagement are absurd. The death vs arrest ratio should be reversed.

I do not doubt that this was a deep cover Iranian backed operation.... Idiot Dems like OBAMA say things like “They conflate Iran and al Qaeda, ignoring the violent schism that exists between Shia and Sunni militants,” ...

Idiots do not understand the threat and have sold this country out for their own political ambitions... They (The Rats) must use this rhetoric so that they can continue to hypnotize America and they turn blind eyes toward the direct backing and support that Al-Qaeda received from Saddam Hussein.....

Al-Qaeda will embrace direct or indirect support that it receives from Iran and Iran will embrace direct of indirect support that it receives from Al-Qaeda in Iraq overlooking their differences in support of crippling the U.S. which has been sold as the great overarching enemy in the region.

That is how we must confront the Left in this country... the public does not understand this symbioism.... Easily defined as The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend.

A martyr to the Iraqi struggle for freedom from Al-Qaeda.
Killing their tribal leaders was Al-Qaedas mistake in the first place. More than anything else it were those murders that turned the Sunni tribes against Al-Qaeda. It won’t help Al-Qaedas cause on bit, except giving their Democrat lackeyes new talking points to glee about. Someone else will assume Abu Risha’s position.

"Elsewhere in Salah Al-Din province, U.S. forces arrested 12 al-Qaida suspects and destroyed an entire house packed with explosives and weaponry, the report said."

Yes, it IS good news.

“A Ramadi police officer said Abu Risha had received a group of poor people at his home earlier in the day, as a gesture of charity marking the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The officer, speaking on condition of anonymity out of security concerns, said authorities believed the bomb was planted by one of the guests.”

Would he or his security detail really admit total strangers into his compound? It occurs to me that these folks might have been locals known to his “tribe” at least well enough to quell the high degree of suspicion and prudence he most surely has been living with since he came out against foreign insurgents. This killing just may have come from closer to home than “al qaeda”......

The opposite is true. The Sunni Arab revenge against Al Qaeda will have no bound now, Al Qaeda made their worst mistake in Iraq by killing Sheikh Abdel Al Sattar.

Exactly right - AQ will now be only more despised throughout Anbar -

Very tough loss, he was a good man, great leader and knew the world was bigger than himself....and was willing to risk his own life in order to see Iraq (and the world) be better off in time.

Because of his actions both will be (better off).
