Regarding Fran Eaton's Aug. 26 column calling the South Suburbs an abortion-free zone:
I remember a number of years back when doctors and clinics advertising that they were doing abortions in this area were threatened, set fire to and picketed, which is likely another reason there are not many openly-broadcast abortion clinics in the South Suburbs. That subject aside, I would like to address the many inconsistencies and illogical arguments in Eaton's column.
Eaton name-calls liberals whom she says get "hot and bothered" about resistance to using tax dollars for fixing social ills. Interpretation: Rich people hate when they are made to pay for poor people. Who is supposed to fix social ills? Or, do conservatives think that there should be no social ills? I suppose if we were all pretty well off and didn't have a care, there would be no social ills. Let's all pray for that day.
Eaton calls war opponents "rabid." This gives a picture of foaming-at-the-mouth animals - snarling and biting. Oops, I think Eaton got us mixed up with the pictures of Bush and Cheney. Seriously, rabid equates with mad - as in insane. So, to oppose slaughtering civilians makes one insane? It is true that war opponents are frustrated and angry with a government that disregards the wishes of the majority of the population and continues in its terrorist activity in Iraq - of slaughtering innocent children and babies and adults who are civilians and simply trying to survive in their own country after being invaded and occupied by a foreign government.
I have to ask: What would you or I do if China decided to invade Washington - bombed the capitol, set fire to the whole District of Columbia and then proceeded to send more and more troops in; closed our airports, set up roadblocks and infiltrated the remaining states in the country with bombs and chemical weapons, killing everyone as they went along? Can you picture this? What if they destroyed most of the clean water sources we have, forbid shipment of food by rail or truck or air, bombed all our hospitals and shot or tortured all of our government personnel? What would you feel? Would you be angry? Would you want to protect your family? Would you eventually feel hopeless and lost? Would you then feel that you had nothing more to lose?
Eaton talks about the billions being spent in Afghanistan to fight al-Qaida? Where has she been this past year? If this isn't illogical, insulting and inflammatory rhetoric I don't know what is. The billions being spent is being spent (and lost and stolen) by companies like Haliburton and Black Water to build permanent U.S. structures which the administration is planning to use as bases to occupy these countries in order to control the oil there and to act as bases for future military expeditions to promote U.S. and Israeli imperialism throughout the world. The al-Qaida ruse is over. In fact, the whole "War on Terror" is a ploy that was used to fool the American public and keep us fearful. Are we that simple minded? It's like the so called "War on Drugs" ploy which didn't stop drug trafficking or use. In fact, Afghanistan has just harvested its largest opium crop ever.
These ultraconservative neo-cons are playing a game with our minds. The fact is, neo-conservatives and right-wing fundamentalists are not what they say they are. In our Western holy book - the Bible - it says that even the "very elect" will be fooled in the end days. These people have infiltrated religion and made it into a military organization that will stop at nothing to have their ends met. Those ends are not the souls of the people. Those ends are power and control.
So now, Eaton is riling people up about the abortion clinic in Aurora. Eaton calls abortion clinics "shameful?" This inflammatory language is meant to dump shame on the heads of those who dare to assume control over their own bodies. To equate abortion with political terrorism is juvenile. Women have been ending unwanted pregnancies since ancient times. There is no point in going over the difference between slaughtering an actual 6-month-old baby with a bomb vs. ending the existence of a fetus with the potential to become a 6-month-old baby. There is much heated debate over this issue. My only strong feeling on this topic is that every woman should have the "choice" to do what she decides is best. The choice and decision is a personal moral one and should not be a political one.
Have no fear Fran Eaton. Liberals are not your friends. More correctly, it is not liberals you disdain. It is progressives. We will continue to try to find peaceful, intelligent, inspiring ways to thwart the "terrorism" perpetrated upon us by you and your cohorts. We will continue trying to open the eyes of those who are asleep through this great dark takeover of our world.

She pretty much verbally proved the lable of “rabid” with this rant quite well...
That’s what happens when your skull is stuffed with mush.
Quite the rambler, oh, and yes, quite the maroon too.
If President Roddamn Hussein were dropping American citizens into wood-chippers and using poison gas to exterminate pockets of resistance in fly-over country then, yes, I'ld think we'ld be glad to have some grown-ups turn up and sort things out.
“Women have been ending unwanted pregnancies since ancient times.”
They’ve been selling their bodies and committing suicide since then as well. In some cultures, they were (and still ARE) sold like cattle.
When does that baby have rights? When it is out of the woman’s body? Then explain partial birth abortion, where they head is delivered through the birth canal and then the skull is puncture, the brains are sucked out...? Or is that still a “fetus” and not a baby? Why doesn’t anyone call a premature infant a “fetus” when it is on life support?
Some say that it isn’t a baby until it can live unassisted. That takes years in the case of humans. They can’t get their own food until they can at least crawl which comes later in the first year. And realistically it would take even longer to be able to find enough of the right things to eat and drink to survive.
Ms. Morris failed to mention that if China decided to invade Washington, she would immediately side with the Chicoms (which probably still wouldn’t do her much good.)
Sounds like a pothead — I’m not saying this particular person is using drugs, but the incoherence is typical of a dope smoker.

I certainly wouldn't turn to Syria and Iran for more "freedom fighters" who would concentrate on killing American police officers, elected officials, school children...
The terrorists fight in Iraq. They do not fight FOR Iraqis. They deliberately kill Iraqi civilians in the name of terror and an antiChristian death cult (it acknowledges the existence of Jesus but denies His teachings, His divinity, His death, and His resurrection; it leads the flock astray).
Did they hit up one of the local high-school students to write this? Well, at least she didn’t say we should all have free health care, free education and guaranteed employment, “like the Founders intended”, like one our local high-schoolers.
The woman has lost her everlovin' mind. She really needs to calm down and breath.
First of all, as a single mother of 3 who lives below the the official "poverty level"- I am by no means rich. I not only don't want to be pay for other poor folks- but I don't want the rich handing me ANYTHING. In fact, I happen to LIKE the rich. I certainly don't want to work for a poor man-- I want to be sure my check doesn't bounce.
Secondly- it is not the responsibility of those who work hard and succeed to "fix" social ills. In fact, this lady seems to miss the whole point. Money will never fix a money problem. It is mostly a decision to be poor. One makes choices that lead to being poor. There are some exceptions, but this is the best country in the world- with the most and best opportunities to rise above "social ills"-- not only that, but you can rise above these "ills" at any time in your life. You can be in your late 50's and still turn your life around and pull out of the darkness.
As a conservative, I actually am GLAD that there are social ills. It gives people the chance to learn from their own actions. It also gives people the chance to give and help the poor- from their own hearts- which witnesses kindness, gentleness, and grace. The most awesome thing about this, is that people learn and see what love and compassion is and it comes from people and hearts and souls-- not from government elites who want the poor dependent upon them in order to abuse them for power. As a consservative- I resent liberals enabling victimhood among people who need straight talk, discipline, and dignity- not excuses to perpetuate the cycle of poverty to their children.
If this woman wants to waste her time praying for "paradise" and "utopia"- she can just keep treating God like a big gumball machine - where you show up with your quarter (request) and wait for him to deliver. As for me- I will pray to my God for His will- for I know He knows best. I will pray that He find ways to use me to bring Him glory- not the government or state. And most of all-- I will pray to my God because I am not interested in Him "fixing" anything- I will pray to Him because I want a relationship with Him.....He is the MAN in my life-- my prayer time is our "pillow talk" the time I get to be closer to Him.....
I strongly suggest she try it. It sure makes for a more peaceful and pleasant life....even for us poor and "socially ill."
She intended to, but there was a character limit....and she has severe character limitations.
I literally feel sorry for people like her whose views of the world are so wildly distorted by a few beliefs. Few things scare me as much as people who are sure they are right - that they have "the" answer for the rest of us. That their view is "the" view...
Dang, the spell checker can’t tell the difference between uniformed and uninformed... Do what I mean, not what I say! These computers are far too literal. :-(

Hey Paula...
I’d go a bit further and suggest she got ripped off too.
