TITLE: "Mexican Consulates (in USA) Refuse to Grant Visas to Central American Undocumented Immigrants"

By Paula Diaz Diaro Hoy (213-237-4582) pdiaz@hoyllc.com

11 of September, 2007

(TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH FROM SPANISH FOR FREEPERS. From the Original "Consulados de México niegan visas a centroamericanos indocumentados")

Los Angeles -- The Consulates of Honduras and Guatemala have expressed their concern about the problems that face undocumented immigrants from Central America, in the United States, when they wish to try to transit back through Mexico to go back to lands of their origin and return home.

The Central American diplomats said that the Consulates of Mexico in the U.S. do not grant visas to Central Americans who do not have or display legal documentation for them to be in the United States, even if those people only wish to travel through Mexican territory so that they can go back to their homelands.

"We have had several cases of some Hondurans who, after living in the U.S.A., decided to return to Honduras wit their possessions, and they are experiencing this problem (with Mexico). Mexico will not grant them visas, complained Vivian Panting, Consul General of Honduras. "This is something that many people do not know and find out only when they have begun their journey homeward."

"We had the case of one person who appeared before the Consulate of Mexico to ask for a transit visa because she had made up her mind to return to her country, and the Mexican Consulate refused her because she did not have documents which made her legal in the United States", she added.

Panting indicated that this represents an additional cost for which already they are prepared to initiate their trip.

On the other hand, the Consul of Guatemala, Milton Alvarez, indicated that also he has had similar cases reported to his consulate in the U.S.: People who wish to return to Guatemala but the cannot make this trip to repatriate to Guatemala over land because Mexico denies them visas.

Responding to this, Mireya Magaña, a spokeswoman of the Consulate of Mexico in Los Angeles, indicated that it is a question of following the lawas of her country.

"Their are established legal requirements in place whereby a visa for Mexico to nationals of a third country are required a valid passport, plus the valid visa of the third country they are in (in this case, the United States), plus a statement of their fiscal situation," said Magaña. "If they have these three requirements, the processing is very fast and we can issue a visa for all citizens of Central American countries. In the case of El Salvador, it will be a stamp, not a visa proper".

Magaña confirmed that, in conformance with these Mexican legal requirements, the Central American undocumented people are not able to obtain a Mexican visa.

In the webpage of Internet of the Secretary of External Relations of Mexico (SRE) the requirements necessary are detailed to obtain a transit visa to move across Mexico. Among them are: to present/display a passport or identity card which states the nationality of the traveler, the official admission of his or herself to a third country and to verify not to have impediment some for its readmisión in the country where it tries to document itself or in the one of origin. Not to fulfill these requirements, implies that the visa is denied, states the Mexican Government website.

Canada is #1
Mexico is #2 oil/energy suppliers to America. Definitely our Mexico policies keep this in mind. We don’t want a Hugo Chavez on our border

Essentially we do though. They’ve invaded our nation and blackmail us every day.

I do agree with your comments, but it’s getting real old.

"Babelfish (Translator) used—to save time—with human touch-up/double-check afterwards to de-Yoda-ize the English."

That will do it!  Thanks for the info.

...and the "plight" of all illegal Mexican nationals in the United States...

The only Mexican "plight" is the loss of billions in remittances if we could locate, corral and deport all of the illegals.

Amazing find. Well, pretty soon Mexico will simply announce that they’ve annexed the US. Period.

The more I read about it, the more disgusted I get with them, the Mexican Government. And these are people President Bush would say are our “friends” and people whom Fred Thompson would say “we love”.

Jorge Arbusto may someday become the most hated man in the memory of living Americans, and the way he conducts himself one would think that was his goal.

Fred will be much better. I know he will because he plays such reassuring characters in the movies. And he's now tough as nails on the border issue, don't you know.

"Just another new twist to Mexico’s unfathomable audacity and hypocrisy on this whole sick issue of their illegals on OUR territory."

Well, that's the point. Mexico doesn't consider it OUR territory. They demand THEIR land back, but I guess they've expanded THEIR land to include Chicago, Seattle, New Orleans, and the rest of the US. Canada comes next, I guess.

You and I may not like it, but the Mexican government and its consulates in the U.S. are doing an excellent job of representing the interests of MEXICAN CITIZENS. The fact that this comes at OUR expense is not a concern of the Mexican government which was elected, after all, to defend the interests of Mexicans. The real problem is, THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT ISN’T DEFENDING THE INTERESTS OF AMERICANS. I am not mad at the Mexican government, but I am livid that our government doesn’t push back on our behalf.

Mexico is our enemy. Sounds extreme doesn’t it? But think about it.

Here is a nation who encourages it’s citizens to illegally break into our country and illegally use our social services.

When their dual citizens commit crimes here, they fight all our laws and defend the guilty perps, always demanding leniency.

They demand we change our laws to suit them and stop defending our border. Their president tells us if a Mexican is in our country, it’s MEXICO!

47 of our citizens have been kidnapped in their country, but....oh, well!

Barbaric beheadings and reporter murders have taken place less often in Mexico than only one other place on earth. Iraq.

Mexico is the biggest drug conduit on earth and most of it is brought here.

Their organized crime gangs run rampant in our cities, National parks and forests.

Mexico’s citizens march in OUR streets, waving a foreign flag, demanding rights no person has a right to.

More people have died on US soil at the hands of Mexico’s citizens than have been lost to ANY foreign country since the 1700’s fight for our independence.

We’ve invaded and made war on nations with a lot less provocation.
