Press, Lies, and Videotape

So he's back, I suppose; Osama bin Laden. And boy, do we need him for many reasons, not the least being that he helps us draw some interesting comparisons. Many have pointed out the similarity between bin Laden's comments and those of certain members of the Democratic left, but there's more to it than mere words. They have a commonality as regards methodology as well.

While it's true that the words of the head of al Qaeda read like a socialist manifesto -- dire warnings regarding global warming, the evils of corporate interests and the dreary invocation of the Vietnam War -- the most amazing similarity is bin Laden's near-total disregard for the truth combined with an almost eerie confidence that this will be ignored by America's leftist media.

We should not be confused or confounded with the latest reporting of Bin Laden’s release. Afterall, the media does not want to paint the face of Alciada as a vial murdering tyrant with goulish intent.

You would think that since Osama obviously has a subscription to the DNC talking points that somebody would be able to find him. Come to think of it, maybe that’s why the democrats go so upset about our national security program to eavesdrop on the telephone calls of known terrorists from abroad coming into this country.

A lib friend/client of mine, intimated yesterday that she thought it was "more than coincidence that a Osama bin Laden should appear to "take away from the bad news Petraeus would say on Iraq."

She went on to tell me that "every time Bush is in trouble on the war, he trots out another tape ostensibly from Osama to further the cause of scare tactics to keep us on alert" instead of allowing us to withdraw from Iraq, "which is clearly lost and we need to leave those people alone." (Full disclosure, she loves attending Streisand concerts and thinks Bab is just the greatest!)

Then she smiled and said, "We'd best not talk politics as we'd just disagree." I told her that I was there to "serve her as my customer and that we are good friends, so we would leave our politics out of it."
